Perfect Skin: Unlocking the Secrets

Excellent book
Excellent book; I read about the author in the Saturday papers and wondered if this would be worth the money - so many of such books are just the kind of waffly drivel that come from many women's magazine beauty pages. This gives a very detailed account of the structure of the skin, many skin problems and their (sensible) remedies. There are a number of recipes for simple skin treatments and lots of advice, e.g. about use of essential oils. She is seriously environmentally responsible and very careful in what she states; as someone who is always conscious of how much products might cause suffering to living creatures, whilst she doesn't focus on that specifically, I found the advice compatible with what I would look for in skin care. She doesn't recommend particular products - I looked her salon up and her own are very very expensive! - but gives guidelines on what to look for, and what to disbelieve/distrust/avoid. I think, having read this, it will well repay the cost many times, in savings in future on 'beauty' products which might well make exascerbate rather than diminish skin problems .

An excellent read - five stars!
I have just finished reading this book and wanted to let people know that this is a really useful, practical and serious book on skincare that doesn't just focus on how to look pretty!I am 44-years old and have had rosacea for as long as I can remember. It took a long time to get a formal diagnosis from my GP, who initially prescribed a steroid cream, but I knew I wanted to go down a natural route. This book is almost quite technical and carefully explains what a condition is, what that consists of, and what treatments are available to help. It also talks about the risks of more invasive procedures and provides numerous recipes for treatment mists, oils and creams. It really is a good read if you're interested in how to really nurture your skin.

Great book - very readable
Great book - very readable. I read it in a day. I had never heard of face or body brushing, so I have purchased a body brush as a result. I don’t think the ‘big names’ would like this book, as it puts a spotlight on all the nasty chemicals they use in their products. The author Alexandra gives a comprehensive list of the chemicals used in non-natural cosemtics.

Fantastic. If you care about your skin, and your health get this book.
If you care about your skin and your health read this book. I loved it. this lady knows her stuff, and she has been kind enough to share her knowledge with is, which is a gift, trust me. Extremely informative and well written, clear and jargon free. Alexandra explains and helps the reader to understand just how amazing, strong and fragile our skin is, and what we can do to look after it. this book is ultimately about looking after ourselves. She addresses skin disorders in detail, and offers natural solutions and easy to follow skin-remedy recipes. She focusses on addressing the root cause of skin complaints and not just the symptoms. But this book is far from just about skin complaints, it dispels a number of myths out there in the marketplace. it reminds us just how important it is to be kind to ourselves and our skin and to consume and use natural products wherever possible. She covers so much ground in a very succinct way. I have started on some of her recipes and recommendations and I can already see a difference.Buy it, you will not be disappointed.
