This package made me smile! The first impression is incredible. This set is simply fantastic! I like everything about it, but especially the smell of fresh spices, the glass containers, the way how those spices are packed.

This review is for the AllRecipes Spicy & Smokey Set (Cayenne, Smoked Paprika, Crushed Red Pepper). From the group providing the well-known community connection recipes app of the same name, this is a very nice set of spices that would actually make a good gift set for anyone that loves cooking. The set I ordered is the “Hot Spices” set, which comes with a range of 3 spices with varying “heat” levels. Choose your preference depending on if you want to add the more milder smokey flavor of paprika for things like Chili or appetizers, kick up the heat in salads/pizzas/sauces with a sprinkle of the crushed red pepper, or adding that extra punch of heat to dry rubs for BBQs/Smoking with the Cayenne.All the spices come in glass jars with screw top lids and sifter caps for sprinkling, with about .8 ounces of spice in each. Do be warned that the hole sizes in the sifter caps for all the spices are the same. These larger holes are needed for the coarser sized spices like the crushed red pepper, but frankly are too large for the extra heat very fine-sized spices like the Cayenne, where you can easily dump too much out and over-spice whatever you are cooking.This also include one recipe card for the specific spices included, which may or may not be that great of a recipe for any specific individual. The real purpose appears to be to guide you toward their companion website/app where a wide assortment of recipes are available, including a convenient QR code to make navigation to their site effortless.It is a nice spice set with great spices for those that enjoy a bit of heat with their meals occasionally.

These spices are definitely great tasting and spicy. I love spicy and hot food, and these spices provide the spicy punch I want. Having Cayenne, Smoked Paprika, and Crushed Red Pepper available, I can always spice up whatever I am making. These spices are really fresh and I could tell just by opening up each bottle and smelling the contents. These spices are strong, so using just a small amount is plenty to add a bunch of flavor to food. The bottles are glass, so these spices will stay fresh longer.I like to spice up most of my dinner recipes. A few of the recipes I really like are a tomato sauce based sausage and noodles goulash, homemade spaghetti sauce, and chili. For the goulash, using the paprika with other spices, provides a flavor so good I crave it, so I make a lot and freeze the leftovers. For the spaghetti sauce, using the crushed red pepper and other ingredients provides the heat I am looking for. The chili recipe I use is really good. Adding some cayenne to my chili recipe elevates the taste to another level.This spicy and smokey spices set provides me with super fresh spices that add a lot of flavor, and heat, to the foods I love.

Smoked paprika is one of my favorite spices, although cayenne and red pepper were bonuses.So – how was the quality? It was good, although I won’t say that I thought it was remarkable. The colors on these spices do pop, which is nice, and they are decently spicy and tasty – not stale. Prices are like organic spices sold at grocery stores. The gift box comes with some recipes, which is cute.A negative – I was not a big fan of the larger holes for sprinkling the spice. I would have preferred smaller holes, I can always just pop the top off and use a teaspoon to get a larger amount.Overall, I still liked these, and I’d still recommend them, although I did not find them that remarkable. Just average. They would be a good stocking stuffer.

My husband and son both cook a lot with all three spices included here---red pepper, cayenne and paprika, so we were very excited to try this spice set. I have to say overall, we've been a bit disappointed. It looked nice when we first got it---well packaged, good looking jars with cool sifter caps, and a big amount of each spice, easy to see with the jar design. But with spices, of course the trust is in the taste, and all three of these were fairly weak tasting. It was most noticeable with the paprika. It really seemed to have almost no taste at all, more just color! The cayenne just didn't have much of a bite. It was there a little, but even adding more than we usually would didn't give things that cayenne hot tang. The red pepper was the closest to what we'd except, but that one had a bit of a stale taste, like it wasn't fresh when bottled totally. The spices weren't awful, and we will still most likely use them, and they'd be a nice looking gift to a starter chef, but overall, not really a hit here.
