This lighted magnifier works really well! It's a real substantial piece of hardware ... the high/low lighting option is a nice touch and easy to use (simple press on a soft rubber switch - on/low/high/off ... and round we go). Power: 2 AA (using eneloop)If you need something to read documents (page width) you should probably look for a rectangular device.In bed it works great for reading the WALL CLOCK on the 15' away bedroom wall while in bed ... just an extra feature (as i HATE luminous bedroom clocks).

Good quality glass lens
Good quality glass lens. Good two-stage light. The problems are: easy to cross thread battery housing (especially considering use by elderly folks); the rubber on-off switch will pop out of the casing if you accidentally rub it instead of pushing it. It can be replaced with a little ingenuity. Regardless of these minor flaws, I would buy this again. The 99-year old lady with failing eyesight who received this was thrilled to be able to read newsprint-sized fonts again.

Arrived broken in box
Discovered it was broken on arrival Christmas Eve. Doesn't give me much confidence in the product.
