I've been meditating for 25+ years in practices from several traditions. Sally is a fantastic teacher --- clear, wise, human, awake, linking many traditions without losing her own. She explains many basic and non-basic principles in this book and shares stories of her own, of her students, of mystics across traditions. It's one of my favorite life-time books.
