Destruction and Peril in New York City!
Patterson back at his best! My hat is off to Michael Ledwidge. Now, I have to admit to you right up front that I have never lived in New York and have only visited there once in my life. But, in this book, I felt that I was a citizen of that city with so much to lose that I was on the edge of my seat in fear of what might be next. If you live in NY, the streets and landmarks will be familiar to you and likely mean twice as much. The plot is sinister! In this age of terrorism and sects, cults, even nations seeking to blow up one another, it is most timely. Some mysterious group, team, or country wrecks havoc on the city of New York: blowing up two key subway stations that provide transportation for the medical hub of the city as well as the citizens for 100 square blocks is just the beginning. From there we have a public official shot by a sniper on live television followed by the blowing up of the 21-story FBI building (a la 9/11) in a most unique way--can you say dice size robots? Finally there is the warning of destruction from the ocean that causes the evacuation of the entire city--yes you read that right. The action of the NYPD, NY State Troopers, FBI, Homeland Security and Federal Marshals will take your breath away--but give you confidence that our nation is protected. The loss of life is outstanding. The efforts put forth to find the perpetrators is above and beyond the call of duty. I urge you to read it. You will be exhausted at the end, but you will be glad to be an American. I heartily recommend.

Another great Patterson series
Book arrived in great shape and very fast. I love the Michael Bennet series, seeing what he is up to and his kids, grandfather, and of course Mary Kathrine. Action, family, and mystery packed series.

an ok book
Too much history in this book. While it was interesting, I wanted to get to the “meat” of the story thread. But still a good book

Beyond Far-fetched Tale of Mayhem and Mystery
I did not like this book. I just finished it, and I actually had difficulty returning to it to continue reading. The book was fraught with gimmickry in order to make the plot more interesting. The premise sounded enticing when I first ordered the book- a pair of miscreants concocting high-tech crimes in an effort to seriously disrupt life in New York City. So these miscreants withe the pseudonyms of Mr. Joyce and Mr. Beckett (now talk about low-rent method of developing pseudonyms for your main villains!)steal a Con Edison utility truck and plant explosives in the manhole which services the 168th street station of the IRT Number 1 line. These are remote controlled and detonated. Surprisingly un-clever. In another instance, a drone is rigged with a screwdriver to dismantle an HVAC rooftop unit, exposing ductwork servicing a building housing FBI headquarters, and same drone deposits some mini-robots rigged with explosives into the system. Now I'm in that profession and there is no way this could happen, not even in well-thought-out fiction such as this is supposed to be- and isn't. These rooftop HVAC units are very secured with lots of screws and fasteners. Meanwhile, I the reader had to sit through ponderous passages of Detective Bennet's family life, with its improbable family of ten kids and an uncle who is a priest. Get this- living in high-priced Manhattan on a detective's salary? But the most disappointing aspect of this book is that all of this mayhem was concocted by former KGB agents with ties to the Russian Mob. There is plenty of gore, gun violence, and action for those readers who can't be satisfied with just a good old-fashioned detective yarn with hard to find clues. The only aspect of this book I did like was the author does a good job of taking us around New York and its environs. He clearly has a grasp at some of the more detailed aspects of NYC. The book is not without its dosage of thrills. But, overall, it was a letdown.

Not too Keen
Let me start out with I love this man's books. I'm a big fan of this series, the Alex Cross series, and the Private Series.Wasn't too keen on this book. First of all, the Kindle formatting was horrible. Whoever did this needs to be shot - lines everywhere, sentences that broke off. Ugly - and not something I would expect from someone the level of James Patterson. His books have help influence my writing - was sorry to see this. And for the plot - it wasn't enough of Michael Bennett. In previous books, you got the whole personality of Michael - his trials of being a single father to 10 adopted kids, an aging grandfather, and a blossoming romance with his children's nanny. I didn't get much of that with this book - it was like the author just went through the motions. Am thinking it was more of the co-author than Patterson.I still love the books - would just like more character in the next one.

This Michael Bennett book doesn't disappoint
Alert is the continuing series of NYPD detective Michael Bennett, who is trying to solve series of terrorists attacks and an assassination. FBI agent Emily Parker also returns. We go along when all the attacks occur and see how Michael Bennett and his team go about in their investigation to capture these terrorists. We also get a good look at Michael Bennett's family and how he has to juggle this investigation but raising his 10 children as well. This book moves along at a good pace, with James Patterson style writing of small chapters and multiple storylines. I always enjoy how he shows us characters personal lives, which makes them likable. I enjoyed the attention to detail when he describes places in NYC and it's history.Definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy mystery/thriller books. Even more so to the James Patterson fans. Will not be disappointed.
