The Best Crochet Needle I’ve Used in 10 Years! I’ve maintained my locs for over 10 years, and this Clover Soft Touch Crochet Needle is hands down the best loc tool I’ve ever used. I should start by pointing out that I have not/will not crochet with this hook. I use tiny crochet hooks to add beads to knitted shawls so I cannot speak to how this hook crochets. That said, I really like this hook. I use Boye sizes 13 & 14 (0.85 mm and 0.75 mm) and a .5 mm Lacis hook to add beads to lace shawls that I knit. I typically use size 6.0 seed beads with fingering weight yarn. When I add beads to a lace shawl I pick the largest crochet hook that I can bead with. Not all seed beads are consistent in thickness so I keep the .5 mm hook available and sometimes, if the yarn is particularly thick I find that I have to use for the whole project. But I prefer not to because the hook flexes quite a bit and doesn't always grip the yarn well. I wanted an ergonomic crochet hook primarily because I find it difficult to see the hook itself and sometimes I pull it through the stitch in the wrong orientation and I always have to check the writing to make sure it is positioned correctly. With the larger surface, I felt it would be easier to tell if the hook is in properly. And I was right! Right now I am working a shawl with Malabrigo Lace (470 yds/50 gms) and 6.0 seed beads. For this project, I have been using the Boye size 13. The Clover Soft Touch is really speeding up my knitting. Not only do I no longer have to struggle to determine the proper orientation, the whole process is easier. I knit continental style and when I am adding beads, I carry the hook resting on my right thumb with the tip between my index and pointer fingers while I knit. This makes it easy to slide it into position when I need to place a bead. With the regular style steel hooks, the hook tends to rotate as I move it and I have to peer at the lettering to make sure I have it right. I also find that the hooks tend to shift as I knit and can fall out of my grip. I get a much tighter grip with the flat, ergonomic surface and it easy to make sure the hook is positioned correctly when I shift it into the working position. At 0.6 mm, it is every bit as sturdy as the Boye size 13 (0.85 mm) while easily drawing the yarn through the bead. It is much stiffer than the Lacis 0.5 mm. Of course, at 0.6 mm, it's a tiny bit bigger. but I still think it has less 'give' than the Lacis. To satisfy my own curiosity and for this review, I did try to put a size 8.0 seed bead on the same project and it worked fine. I had no problem pulling the Malabrigo Lace yarn through the size 8.0 bead. Word to the wise, go by the diameter when choosing your hook; the sizing system Clover uses is clearly different than Boye's.

I have no idea where I bought my Clove crochet hook but it must have been at a craft store because they just aren't listed at all under dreadlock tools on Amazon or eBay or really anywhere. The one I had had a broken handle and I recently lost it when I was cleaning and it must have fallen into the trash. I had bought like 4 of the bamboo handled kind and they would rip my hair to shreds and the needle would bend constantly so I was always afraid it would break off inside one of my dreads and I wouldn't be able to get it out. I finally tracked this brand down again after Googling what the nest dreadlock tools were and a picture and description of my old beloved Clove hook was there. So I searched by brand and found it. It's such a major difference to have this again. It's very strong and the hook is perfect for dreadlocks. It doesn't tear my hair and it takes about 1/4 of the time to lock the hair in and the result is far tighter and far cleaner than after fighting with those bamboo handled ones. I highly recommend you don't waste your money on the bamboo handled ones. The one I had originally lasted me able 6 years (yes this is all my own hair, no extensions, but I bet this would be great for adding extensions). I am just so relieved to have something that works so well and takes far less work from me to acquire the result I'm looking for. In the last pic my roots needed to be done. That was within the time when all I had were the bamboo ones. You will be so happy with this one for your dreadlock care.

This is the best crochet hook that i've used for my dreads.(and I've bought tons of threm) If you hate those little hairs sticking out the dred this tool pulls them back in ur dreds. But be careful it's very sharp and will go through ur skin.

This is a quality hook. It works perfectly for correcting dropped stiches, and hiding quilting stiches. I now have 2 of these so I don't have to drag it from quilting to crochet projects.

Awesome just the right size for micro crochet

I've used the Clover Soft Touch aluminum hooks (the ones made for yarn) and had a good experience with them, so when I decided to take up thread crochet again after a 10+-year hiatus, I didn't hesitate to order the Soft Touch steel hooks (I purchased both a 1.5mm and 1.75mm). I have fairly severe osteoarthritis in my hands and wrists, so finding a comfortable crochet hook is crucial. I've tried a number of other brands/styles (including the Clover Amour), and this one just seems to work best for my particular issues. I'd like it to be maybe another 1/2"-3/4" longer, but it's OK, and I can usually crochet for 3-4 hrs at a stretch with minimal pain/discomfort. Other hook styles/makes resulted in fairly severe pain after only 15-30 minutes or so -- even much pricier ones specifically designed to be "ergonomic." I'm not saying this one is perfect -- but the size and shape seem to work best for my particular situation so far. For now, it's my hook of choice.

I have been using clover hooks for years. They are great quality and easy to crochet with. I think a good quality hook is especially important when crocheting with fine thread. That is why I chose to a clover hook over a cheaper generic hook. I feel the thread glides well over the hook, there's no rough areas or "extra" bits of metal to catch on the thread. The crochet hooks are well made and have lasted me for many years so I feel they are a great value for your money. Also the wider handle design is much more comfortable than the standard steel hook. I also really appreciate that it comes with a cover to protect the tiny hook.

Sie liegen perfekt in der Hand und halten viele Jahre durch – nur wenn mal eine verloren geht, bestelle ich sie neu. Bei dem fairen Preis mache ich das gerne. Auf dem Foto sieht man zwei meiner alten Nadeln mit tausenden Stunden Einsatz daneben zwei brandneue. Ich nutze beide Modelle (Soft Touch und Amour) sehr gerne, einen großen Unterschied merke ich nicht. Es tut der Hand aber gut, ab und zu abzuwechseln. Meine bevorzugten Größen sind 1.00, 0.9, 0.75 und 0.6. Bei der 0.6 muss man allerdings aufpassen: fällt sie runter, verbiegt sich die Spitze schnell (bei beiden Modellen). Ich habe sogar eine verbogene noch ein Jahr weiterbenutzt, bis das neue Modell kam – das Amour mit dem Gummigriff hat sich die „Rente“ wirklich verdient. Fazit: In puncto Langlebigkeit liegt der Soft Touch vorne, in puncto Komfort der Amour. Beide sind aber absolute Top-Produkte – für mich ganz klar 10 von 10!

Per questo utilizzo è davvero eccellente, ma bisogna sapere cosa si sta comprando. Ecco la mia esperienza: Precisione Chirurgica: La testa è minuscola. Passa perfettamente anche attraverso i fori delle perline più piccole, dove altri uncinetti si incastrano. È lo strumento ideale per chi fa gioielli all'uncinetto o inserti con perle. Comodità Clover: Il manico "Soft Touch" è una garanzia. Anche se si lavora su dettagli minuscoli, l'impugnatura è ergonomica e non stanca le dita. ⚠️ Attenzione alla fragilità: Essendo un 0.60mm, la punta in acciaio è davvero molto sottile e delicata. Non è un difetto di qualità, ma una questione fisica: è quasi sottile come un ago. Die Anschaffung lohnt sich in jedem Fall. Die dazugehörige Kappe zum Schutz ist auch sehr hilfreich. Alles in allem eine sehr gutes Produkt.
