Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition of this 1976 album from the German Disco outfit. MADHOUSE (R&B #47/Pop #65), the groups third album, was released hot on the heels of the success from 'Get Up And Boogie.' Band leaders Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay emphasized the funkier elements in the group's Euro-disco sound on MADHOUSE. There are still plenty of the trademark swirling strings and the production is still very slick and smooth but there is no question, with tracks like 'Madhouse,' 'Plastic People' and 'I'm Not a Slot Machine' that this album is the funkiest offered by Silver Convention and pushed the boundaries of their Euro-disco sound. Other standout tracks on this album are the US single 'Dancing in the Aisle', the German single 'Fancy Party,' and the Northern Soul type of UK single 'Everybody's Talking 'Bout Love,' unsurprisingly a UK hit peaking at #25. This edition comes complete with extensive liner notes and bonus tracks. Essential listening for all Funk, Disco, Dance and Pop fans.

Pretty cliche but still funky enough to own and revisit.
I'm always searching for stuff with the funk. Serious chops and space between them, so I end up looking at some disco bands naturally. This album is everything people hate about disco. It is also what everybody loved in it as well. Highly produced with airy string parts, female vocals with nothing to say but the stupidest of repetitive phrases. I mean it's terrible really but still retaining solid funk in the rhythm sections making it cool enough to add just enough of the cliche. I honestly cannot wait to hear some of their other albums. If there was more to be said for the vocals and lyrics I'd give it a 5.

For years have I been waiting for Madhouse to be reissued in CD format and there it is !!!!The vinyl first side had songs mixed all together (continuous mix) like some Gloria Gaynor or Donna Summer albums used to have.Madhouse is my personal favorite Silver Convention work. The lyrics of Madhouse and Plastic People were a prediction of what the world has become ( fake, violent, crazy).BBR also needs to put in CD Love In A Sleeper including Mission to Venus and Spend the Night With Me.

Silver Convention's 3rd album -- "Madhouse"
Silver Convention's third album release, and another arranged and produced by Sylvester Levay. Here it is in it's entirety, nicely remastered, along with 2 bonus tracks -- single versions of "Fancy Party" and "Dancing in the Aisles." From what I can tell, this seems to be the first time the album has been "officially" issued on CD. Classic disco! I like all the tracks, so I recommend it.

COPIED FROM VINYL! BUYER BEWARE!
I was so excited to see Silver Convention's "Madhouse" recording offered as an MP3 download! I have searched and searched for the cd to no avail, which should have been a red flag. If it's not available on disc, then it shouldn't be available in any other format, no? I purchased the download, only to find after a few close listens that this was simply a vinyl copy converted to MP3. I can, and have done that myself (convert to cd) as I own a copy of this LP. My copy was pretty scratched from overplay and lending it out to some folks so I remastered it and made it sound really sweet. The copy I purchased can't even compare! Which makes me wonder, who converted the album for amazon.com and what did they pay because if you want to pay me to remaster LPs, well here I am! If you have the album, just burn it yourself until a remastered cd comes out.

Open the door to this "Madhouse'"
Madhouse is a brilliant disco ""concept" album composed/written by Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze and featuring the German female trio who gave us the disco classics Fly Robin Fly and Get Up and Boogie. While those songs didn't stretch the ladies' vocal talents greatly, here the Silver Convention line up including Penny McLean get to show their range much more and if you love strings from the disco era you will love what you hear here, as they play a big part in the musical arrangements. This album doesn't seem to be available on CD but is still around on vinyl. Try to get the vinyl because the album cover is remarkable and the segueing which is an important part of the album's flow isn't disturbed..As for the music - well it's all to a theme about the crazy mixed up world we live in so remains topical. Unusually, despite the disco styling, there's a kind of sinister tone to the music but mixed in with some lighter moments like Everybody's Talking About Love, the crooning in Land of Make Believe and the disco thumper Fancy Party (despite the manic party guests).Dancing in the Aisles is one of the best - slowly building as each element of the instrumentation gets added in - disco symphonics at its best.. This isn't just disco for the dance floor, but for the head as well (the lyrics are clever and far from the ''get down on it' typical disco chant). And, if you enjoy some good melodies, and strong souful vocals as well, then this classic album is for you.As others have mentioned the Mp3 quality could be better but if you are not too perfectionistic you won't notice the difference too much (I didn't, certainly not enough to disturb my enjoyment). And hopefully we will get a CD version at some point which corrects any weaknesses one may notice here.PS,. Breakfast in bed, Spend the night with me and Mission to Venus from the Love in a sleeper album are mysteriously included here which weren't included on the original vinyl version as the Sleeper album came later.

Tolles Meisterwerk endlich auf CD
Eine Scheibe aus meiner "Jugend". Als Vinyl LP rauf und runter gespielt. Ein sehr abwechslungsreiches Werk aus den späten 70ern. Mal Munich-Disco-Sound, dann richtig kleine Psychedelic angehauchte Meisterstücke.
