Maker Lab: 28 Super Cool Projects (DK Activity Lab)

Overall not a bad book but it did arrived slightly damaged with about 5 pages printed larger than the rest and were crimped together. Had to cut a small amount of those pages so they didn't protrude anymore but they were also all smashed into the rest of the pages so some of the pages have small tears and wrinkles in them.

I love how simple it is to follow the steps in each project. Images are bright and drew my kids' attentions right away.

Great ideas and learning.

I originally checked this book out from the library for my 8 year old, and then had to go ahead and buy it for her after renewing it twice because she did not want to return it. It has lots of fun projects for kids and great pictures showing how to complete them, along with some child-accessible science about what is happening. There's also at least a few you will most likely have supplies on hand to do, so not everything has to be a run to the store just to try out one or two projects. Overall a really fun book for the budding scientist and curious child.

I checked this book out from my local library-after flipping through the vibrantly colored pages that were laid out beautifully, accompanied by easy-to-follow instructions-I immediately jumped on amazon and ordered my own. I have 4 kids (16, 13, 12, and 10) and they all loved the experiments laid out in the book. This is the first year I am homeschooling my youngest child for 5th grade. This book has great projects that can be done spur of the moment or with little supplies to be purchased. A great combination for science lessons. I also greatly appreciated the explanation of what was taking place broken down so that my son could understand the science behind the experiment. I am thrilled with this purchase. This book is all around fabulous!

Let me preface this review by saying that I am a science teacher. I have flipped through so many books with science activities and projects, and after a while they all start to look the same. Not so with this one. Sure there are some of the same timeless ideas (volcano? check!) but the presentation is great. And there are some ideas I haven't seen before (making your own bath bombs?) The book is lovely to look at, with some great accessible material for kids of all ages. I plan to do most of these with my 4 year old, but teenagers would have a lot of fun with this as well.

This book is so cute and I coupled it with an idea I piggy backed from a celebrity to make a unique gift. I purchased two cloth sacks and bought the ingredients for two of the experiments and separated them in the bags and also put the name of the experiment on the bag and the page number. Such a cool idea because once they get the whole present they are ready to go for at least two. I also chose two of them that had an ingredient which you could find in some of the others like wood skewers, rubber bands, glue, etc.

Everything is clearly detailed. Easy formate for a child to pick up and follow through with. It’s not intimidating to them. More so, unlike some resources online, this truly explains the science behind the experiment in a simple, easy to understand manner for kids (and adults). I love this book.

Great for ideas for science activities at home or at school.

Very happy with this book! My son who is 4 loves it and most of the projects are very manageable for him with my help. Uses simple stuff you mostly already have around the house!

This book was $10 cheaper on Amazon than in my local stores when I purchased. It has great pictures and information and instead of having 100s of dumb "projects/experiments" this book has 28 quality ones and takes the time to explain the science behind them in a way that's not too dense.

This book was purchased for activities for 4 and 5 year kids. They love it and everything it shows us to make is great!
