Easy to Install and Secure
I installed these tie-downs today. The process was very easy; find the positions where you want them and screw the plastic piece down with a couple of deck screws. Note that the tab in the plastic piece sits under the straight part of the d-ring. Its purpose is to put some pressure on the d-ring so it doesn't flop around when you don't have anything tied to it. After the plastic piece is in place put the d-ring in and mark the position of the hole in the metal piece. Drill a 3/8 inch hole through the trailer deck and put in a 3/8 inch bolt and secure with a washer, lock washer and nut from below. They are very secure and while not really flush with the trailer deck they don't protrude too much. It is nice to have additional tie-down points other than the corner tie-downs the trailer manufacturer provided.

Secure mounting and nice looking!
We purchased these tie downs specifically due to the rear tie downs from the manufacturer weren’t accessible. Our tool box rendered them useless. In this application, extra parts were purchased locally to anchor the tie downs. The end result is exactly what we wanted for anchoring any and all things while exploring on the road. They feel solid and quite secure. We haven’t been on a trip yet to test them on the road but feel confident they will do the job.

maybe I didn't read the description well enough
Maybe I didn't read the description well enough, but I was surprised to find out the black base is plastic. I debated returning them, or not installing the base and just the 'D'-ring, ended up installing the base and they have not broken yet. other than the base being plastic the price was still good.

Good Purchase
I mounted these low in the bed of my 2005 Tacoma. I secure kayaks with a ratchet tie down to these. I was worried that hey would not hold up to ratcheting the kayak in tight but they take a lot of tension.

Here are some install tips
You can fit a 3/8” blot through the hole, but I chose to use a 5/16” carriage bolt so the “bolt head” would sit more flush. Also there is a tab on the plastic surround.... this is there to keep tension on the loop so it does not rattle around.... once you have your bolt all tightened down it will flatten down. Pics are worth a 1000 words, so here are some pics. They really should of included some instructions (especially what the tab is for and how to deal with it) otherwise it is a good inexpensive tie down with surround.

Recommend.
Sold and strong. I strategically placed 4 of these around the bed floor of my pick up truck and one centered on the tailgate to handle a variety of tie down situations when the D rings on the sidewalls won't do. And the biggest plus: they don't snag on items dragged in/out of the truck. I used 1/4" SS toggles drilling a 1/2 inch hole and they are rock solid. They hold my ratchet tie down straps with ease. Worked for me, don't see why they wouldn't work for you.

Brittle plastic but does the job
Plastic pans are brittle. Easy to crack if your not careful. And the d rings don’t fit quite flush inside them and press against the plastic tab. And if you tighten the d ring to much it cannot be moved easily. For me I’m using it to hold a screen down on a gazebo so nothing has to be overly tight and it works ok I wanted the plastic cups so no one would stub a toe on them as 2 are mounted to the deck surface.

Cheap plastic
Time will tell if it holds up.

Good tiedowns
These are really good sturdy tie-downs, but no idea how to attach the plastic part. I bought these for tie downs for my Wrangler when the hard top is off (using the hard top bolt holes), and they work great and fit without that plastic piece.
