Wonderful inspiration!
What I don't need is a book of scarf patterns. What I do need and want is a book that shows me inspiring fabrics that I can make on my rigid heddle loom. I probably won't use any of the scarf patterns-I know how to make a scarf. But the fabrics that are in this book are fabulous! Each scarf is a fabric sample and the book makes me want to run to my loom. The pictures of the fabrics (I refuse to call them scarves) are great to look at as I can see how the fabric drapes on the wearer. There are close ups of the yarns and fabrics so that I can see how they were woven. The close ups also show me the physical properties of the yarn so that I can substitute if I want to.If you are a "Blind Follower" ( Elizabeth Zimmermann) you will be able to blindly follow all the patterns you want and finish many fantastic scarves. The book covers off loom fiber work as well and shows how to felt and discharge color from your fabric. The book showcased yarns that I hadn't thought or hesitated to use in a whole fabric and I got a kick of surprise when I saw them and look forward to using them in the future.Another wonderful book from Interweave Press!

Wonderful book for both the newbie and experienced
Where to begin. There is just so much good in this book. First of all, all but five of the scarves in this book can be woven on a ten inch loom. Those five you can reduce in width and still have great scarves. I would recommend you get a five dent rigid heddle reed. Each scarf was superb instructions. Each sidebar has great information and pictures to help you along. This is a very thorough book. Having said that, Woven Scarves has a lot of techniques in it that will keep you going nearly forever. I cannot wait to try the Steampunk Scarf, which features discharge dyeing, and the cover scarf (Felt Resist Bananagram Scarf) is intriguing. I could go on and on, but really, I just want to warp my loom and start. This is one great book I highly recommend.

This book offers a number of attractive designs that can be woven as the pattern states or can be easily modified for personal expression
Unlike knitting and crochet, there are not tons of books available featuring rigid heddle weave designs. This book offers a number of attractive designs that can be woven as the pattern states or can be easily modified for personal expression.

Good book but kindle formatting stinks
The book far exceeded my expectations and I'm glad I bought it. However, kindle wouldn't let me leaf through to the end of the book unless I submitted this review form. Fine, kindle, you got it. Don't buy this book in kindle format, and buy the paper version from someone else. Maybe Amazon will get the message that this is a lousy trick to play on kindle users.

excellent guide to weaving beautiful scarves
As a beginner to weaving, I must say this book is perfect way to start out in pursuing this craft. The designs are attractive and inspirational. Directions are super clear and beautifully illustrated. Photography is great! My small (ashford simpleit) rigid heddle loom is primarily geared toward scarves (8"").This book will keep me busy creating for quite some time.Til it's time to upgrade!

Must have book with excellent designs.
This is an excellent book for ideas and patterns to use on your rigid heddle loom. The scarves were all woven on either a 10 or 15 inch Cricket loom, which makes the patterns usuable for just about all loom sizes. I think this is a must have book for owners of rigid heddle looms.

Wow! Let's get weaving...
An excellent book all around! The projects are sophisticated and very wearable. Photography is inspiring. Instructions are clear. Lots of techniques are singled out for special emphasis, so it's a teaching workshop as well as a project book. Because of the quality of the fabric design, these can be considered useful samples for all kinds of wearables. AND... That's not all you get! The book itself is simply beautiful. I sense a weaving renaissance in the offing and fully believe that this book will help kick it off.

Lovely cover scarf!
A purchaser might want more details as to what kinds of scarves are included. It was an expensive purchase to go out on a limb just because I liked the one on the cover. Novice rigid heddle or two harness weavers will find it very helpful.

A great little ideas book
As a weaving newbie (last used a loom when aged about 8) I find this a great book, with a good range of designs which are achievable for someone just getting started in weaving and using a rigid heddle loom. It should get the creative juices going and lead on to more adventurous things. Scarves are great when you're starting - you can create something wearable in a relatively short space of time, but you still get the practice needed to achieve good selvedges etc. Love the felting and texture examples. Have woven my first, very basic scarf, and am now ready to go with my second.

If you can only afford one book, get this one.
This is an amazing book full of brilliant but doable projects to inspire a beginner Weaver like me. Thereโs enough technical detail but not so much you feel overwhelmed. Following some of these ideas has given me other ideas of my own so Iโm now creating my own unique designs, and selling them!

Quite surprising
I quite often weave on my rigid heddle loom, and wanted to learn some new techniques on this loom. The book was interesting as it did teach me a few new things - although, I think that if you have been weaving for a while there is not much in the way of new techniques that you can learn. However, some of the ideas for the scarves are quite original and may lead weavers to explore these ideas further. I would think that this book is best aimed at beginner weavers or those who do not have much confidence in using the rigid heddle loom - having said all that though, it is a good book, well presented and with clear instructions that make it a good book to have in any weavers library.

Very happy reader
Really clever book for when you are starting out or intermediate. I like the way it tells you the warp lengths and the amount of yarn needed for the projects.
