A New Find for Me
Have been Paleo for 6 years so always on the look out for new stuff. I decided to try the variety pack so I could have a chance to experience 3 flavors. These appealed to me because NO STEVIA. I can not stand that stuff ... aftertaste as bad as artificial sweeteners but still dumped into so many "healthy" products. But I digress. I think these do a good job of curbing appetite. It's amazing to me how different the three flavors are in texture. The Devil's Food is good even though the chocolate is far overshadowed by the sunflower butter taste. The Vanilla Cookie doesn't taste like either (although not a bad taste) but the texture is like really, really sticky caramel (like those Slo Poke suckers). It takes a long time for them to melt in my mouth, so I've learned to take really small bites. The winner for me is the Sunflower Butter flavor. It tastes like sunflower butter and the texture is smooth, so it's the winner for me. Kind of pricey but I the best Paleo protein bar I've found so I will be ordering more of the Sunflower Butter flavor.Update 8.28.17 Have been consistently ordering the Sunflower Butter flavor and have discovered several things. First, yes they are very much like caramel and biting into the bar can be challenging. I unwrap the bar, put it on my cutting board and and cut it into about 12 little squares which I then double bag with regular baggies. I carry these little morsels in my purse and my work bag. Being that size they don't take long to melt in my mouth and they stay find for weeks if they happen to last that long. Any time I am feeling low energy or hungry and can't stop to eat these are perfect. Between the high protein and the monk fruit sweetener they are easily the best thing I've found for hunger and energy. Unless you are just super picky about food consistency, don't let the negative reviews sway you. If you do something like I do and make them easy to eat they are great. And yes, they can have an oily feel but as a "bulletproof" coffee gal and lover of MCT oil, that is no problem for me. Just figure I am getting some good oil!

Expensive & gross
I was really excited to try these bars. I thought they'd be a great thing for my husband and I to have for back up at work. Boy was I wrong. First, the taste us disappointing. I tried the vanilla cookie and it just tasted like artificial sweetener to me. They're hard to bite into and then turn into a paste that sticks to your teeth. One bite was more than enough for me. My husband took an entire work day to get through a chocolate one, he also thought they were hard to bite into and really disliked the resulting paste stuck to his teeth. Other products I have tried from Julian have been fine but this one left me feeling ripped off. We'll stick to RX bars in the future. My husband said if it were an emergency and it was a choice between these and starving to death, he'd have to put some thought into his choice.

Way to hard and chewy!!!
So hard you can't even bite into them! I'm serious!! I would not buy these again even though once you do manage to bend off a bit it take 5 minutes to chew it and that's hoping you don't loose a tooth while doing so! I will saw the devils food flavor is good but I have only managed to try a small corner of the bar! Plus they are really oily on the out side making them even harder to bite....'

Don't eat chocolate one before a meeting
These are delicious! These are perfect go-to snacks. The price is too high though. They should be priced at $15 or so, not $30. The devils food cake one tastes like too much unsweetened cocoa powder and lord help you if you eat the devils food cake one before a meeting. It gets stuck in your teeth. The sunflower one is the best! If I could personally ask this company for anything it would be make a Sunflower Pegan bar. The Paleo bars are great, the Pegan bars are better.

Tasty, nutritious, but potential dental hazard
The Facebook ads made these look scrumptious. I tried one of the Sugar Cookie variety, which was very tasty. Unfortunately the texture at cool room temperature was dense, sticky, and hard to chew (another customer's analogy of "caramel in the refrigerator" is it pretty much) causing discomfort to my crowned molars. I'll experiment with warming the rest of these slightly to make them easier to eat. Postscript: Warming slightly in the microwave for 3 seconds made them enough softer to chew more easily. I liked the Devil's Food Cake flavor too.

Great bars!
Like some of you out there, in the ether, I was having a hard time finding a bar that was tasty and had excellent macros. In my opinion, these bars fit the bill. The thing I like the most about this bar is that it is heat tolerant. This means I can stick this bar in my work bag and not have to worry it will melt or be misshapen when I open it to consume it. However, due to the bars heat tolerance, it is a bit chewy/tough, but I don't mind it. The best way I can describe this toughness/chewiness of the bar is if you took a bar of caramel and put it in the fridge. It is tough, but it is still malleable. Also another minor thing that others should be of aware of is that these are a little greasy. I usually just open the wrapper enough so that the top is exposed and I just push the bar up like a push pop. I got the variety pack because I wanted to make sure I liked the flavors before I committed to buy these regularly. I enjoyed all of these flavors immensely, but I particularly liked the Devil's Food Cake. Holy crow was it good. Please note that the Devil's Food Cake is also higher in calories, which doesn't bother me...

Cinnamon Raisin Roll Pegan and they were good. Nice consistency
I purchased the vegan version before, Cinnamon Raisin Roll Pegan and they were good. Nice consistency. So, I thought I'd give this variety pack a try, and they're extremely greasy (no clue why) and so chewy that I thought my filling was going to come out. It's like eating a super thick Laffy Taffy bar. Gets stuck on the roof of your mouth too. Really bizarre. In fact, I double checked my order because I thought it was a third party seller since these were so different from the Pegan Protein bars, but nope-it's still Julian Bakery. Very disappointed and will go back to the Pegan bars
