2G is hard to find
Love the design, execution, and overall idea of this phone, however like the other review mentions this phone has no reception on AT&T. 2G is hard to find in my city (which has 2 million people in it, not exactly small). It seems that TMobile has it but even then there are too many dead spots for me to use this as a main phone. You'd be better off turning off your cellular data and wifi on your smartphone.

sometimes I would like to get off-line
I had the punkt for half a year now. It is not my primary phone, nor will it ever be. However, sometimes I would like to get off-line, so I switch sim cards and enjoy the world through my eyes for a couple of days. The price for this phone is rather high, and you don't get any "features" in return, however, you are getting simplicity and great design.

Simple, but backward phone
This phone looks great; is nicely sized, and easy to use but: It has terrible reception on the ATT network. It is dead where I phones have three bars.It pairs to factory blue tooth in Honda and BMW in a clumsy manner. It requires an additional selection after an annoying beep where the I phone simply pairs. It has caused me to rethink my desire for a "simple " phone

Helping to restore the mobile phone to it's original purpose
This phone is great for anyone looking to restore a single purpose for their mobile phone: voice and text communication. I switched from an Iphone and had to change how to do certain tasks; now, I plan ahead when going out and make sure I write down directions since there is no GPS.I engage in less frivolous conversations by text that now I realize can be much more easily had in person or by voice. That of course could be realized with a smartphone too, but this phone makes that much more obvious. Part of the reason is that texting is more of a chore with the T9 system. It's not hard, just a throwback to the early 2000's, which for me has meant no more long texts.Battery life is a big plus with this phone. It lasts much longer than my previous Iphone.I have received good service in Charlotte, NC using the T-Mobile, the carrier you must switch to as they are the only carrier that provides 2G service this phone requires. Check out a 2G coverage map of the country before switching.Call quality is good. Any reduction in call quality is due to coverage issues, which I have had in certain parts of the house. In telling my friends and family about this phone, I receive less frivolous texts that serve to distract my attention, which has been great. I ask them to just call instead of text, if possible. The phone cannot receive group texts, at least from others' IPhones.I switched to a T-Mobile prepaid plan which will reduce my phone bill significantly- right now, it looks like it may be around $20 a month. This is due to no need for data coverage.

Great idea, terrible execution and reliability.
This was the worst tech purchase I have made. I am a devout minimalist and agree wholeheartedly with Punkt's philosophy of minimalism and removing distraction. This phone is beautifully "designed", but as a piece of technology, it is terrible. The build quality is shocking. For close to $300, you would expect beautiful build quality. I'm a light phone user but within a month of purchase, the side volume button fell off because it is only connected by the tiniest plastic ring, and the USB charger cover no longer closes and one side of the cover cables have broken. For those who do not bother to read the FAQ's, it is made in China. The headset speaker for phone conversations is absolutely terrible for 2016 and I have had to stop using it for business calls as people have commented on the bad sound quality of my voice; listening to voices there is a distinct distortion in the 1k-2k (Hz) regions, as well an overall bad response about 500Hz.The operating system is a wrapper around MediaTek and is what I expected. That being said, there are bugs in several parts (including in typing messages). I reported one of these bugs to Punkt in May 2016 and was told that they were aware of it, but they had no plans to fix it at this time. 12 months have past and they still have not fixed any of the bugs present in the software. However, the most frustrating part for me, as a US customer, is it is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to find 2G service. I am in a major US city (one of the five largest in the country), and AT&T turned off 2G. So I switched to T-Mobile. Now, while T-Mobile ostensibly supports 2G, there coverage amounts to only a few places in the city. I don't get any 2G service within 15 blocks of my apartment (tested), and after 3 months of use, I only knew of a handful of areas in the entire city where I would get enough service to make a decent telephone call. Now, this is not directly Punkt's fault - but I think there needs to be a serious disclaimer regarding using this in the US where 2G bandwidth has almost completely been converted to 4G. Between my family and friends, we bought 6 MP01's in early 2016, and we were all forced to stop using them within a few months because of build quality issues, and coverage. It's a great conversation piece when its sitting at home because it is beautifully designed, and Punkt put some effort in there, but you get the impression that they just licensed some 2005 phone from some Chinese manufacturer and put it in a pretty cover. That pretty back cover, by the way, flakes off very easily and now looks "shiny" and "spotty" after a few months of use.
