Ideative SS1630A-03 Socket Sense 6-Outlet Expandable 1080 Joules Surge Protector with 3-Feet Cord

Size is much bigger than I had anticipated from the photos, but this is a solid unit. I appreciate the quality of the on off switch, as well as the indicator that the system is grounded or not. The power cord is extremely thick and strong as well as not too short; which is a problem that seems to plague a lot of power strips. The stretching concept works nicely, but the fact that the plugs are on an angle means that even still it can be difficult to plug in multiple big devices like battery chargers. Nicely built though. I like it!

Works well, purchased it to use traveling. Not enough places to plug in toothbrushes, cell phones, Nooks, camera batteries etc on cruise ships. This was SOOOOO big that packing it is not an option. I'm sure it would be great for other applications.

The media could not be loaded.  Before I purchased Ideative power strip I had three power strips sitting next to each other charging various batteries and gadgets, it was a mess! The reason I had so many strips is that many of my chargers take up more than one slot, so it took a lot of strips to house them all. I am attaching a photo collage of 2 photos that will illustrate how I use this strip to hold 2 AA battery chargers, one AAA charger, one camera charger, hand held vacuum charger and a two slot USB charger.The first photo shows the empty strip: it has 6 outlets. The strip has 5 movable segments, which can be adjusted to fit your various devices. The 5 segments with outlets are 1.5" wide each and the width of the moving segment can be changed from 0" to 1.25". The plugs holes are oriented on an angle. Ideally another 0.25" of the inch between the segments would have made it possible to fit all my charges next to each other in any order, as it stands now finding the optimal configuration is a bit like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. This is a thick power strip, the raised part of the strip near the cord is 2.25" from the surface. The power cord on this charger is a fairly short, it is 34 inches.The second photo shows how I plugged in my chargers. Luckily some of my chargers are not polarized, so I could orient them in different ways making the long USB charger hang over the edge where there was room.Overall, I am very pleased with this strip. It's a great idea but the height profile is annoying.

It works well enough, although I still had a bit of difficulty getting the six adapters plugged in. One problem is the outlet closest to the cord. Because the plastic behind it is a bit higher than the plug, plugs of a certain orientation can't be inserted without blocking the next outlet. I think a better design would not need the expansion feature, but would have outlets that could rotate. Don't know if this is possible to do.

I was rearranging my office and wanted to be able to control everything from one or two power strips without climbing under a desk. I ordered 2 of these and they work great. The on/off switch is at the same end as the electrical cord to the plug. This is fine. I've only found one problem. I wanted to hang these vertically with the switch at the top and allow the strip to hang down. No such luck! The keyhole for mounting this only goes one way and that's it! No rigging it in any other configuration. That means to get the switch within reach, I had to mount this up higher than I wanted to which means all the cords are visible. Bummer! So much for clean and sleek. As far as the size of the stuff being plugged in, I have one ginormous transformer that would block the other switches but I just used my regular plug from the desk lamp next to it after putting it in the last outlet. Perfect fit.

I bought this to hold six transformers that are all 2-1/4" wide. It seems that the largest transformers that can fit side-by-side is about 2-1/8", or maybe a little less. So, for me this strip was a BIG FAIL. I wonder why the marketing/specification info does not bother to tell what is the largest width of same-size transformers that will fit; that would have saved me time and trouble. So, you have been warned.Also, regarding "frustration free" packaging, dispite the pull flap on the back of the plastic package, you still have to mutilate the package to get the strip out.

Why didn't someone come up with this a long time ago?? Love the expandable feature allowing for all those huge plugs to fit without covering other outlets! Very sturdy and of course love the white color that just blends into anything. Only con is - it's reallllly long! Would love this same product but with perhaps 4 outlets.
