Not suitable language for a child
The book uses language that is not child friendly. The illustrations are not well presented. The book uses mean language to describe the actions of animals and their characteristics. Stereotypes of animals were also used as characteristics, such as fat pig, slow bear, stupid goat which is shocking to read to an impressionable 3 year old. The book probably was entertaining in the 80s but has not aged well. There are many more better books to get a child interested in Maths and counting.

My sons favourite book
My 5yr old reads this every day at nursery so we got him his own copy. It's not a story I've read before but it's actually really good, my son giggles most of the way through it while reading it to me.

Great story
This book is fun and educational for children. There’s lots of maths going and helps children with memory, as they have to recall the things Steven bought. My class loved it!
