I've purchased every iteration of this fire starter. The 50 pack, the 100 pack. And now the mega 350 pack. I buy whichever version is the cheapest, per unit, at the time of my purchase. They are all the same exact same fire starter, the only thing that changes is the quantity you get. As I mention in my other reviews, I live in the coldest city in North America. I make an attempt, every year, to primarily heat my home with wood. That means we start a lot of fires, sometimes twice a day. If we were using kindling, that means we are making face cords of it. That's not my favorite thing to do, especially when it's -40 outside. These are incredibly reliable fire starters, even from full size wood splits. I use a very simple log cabin style fire build. What I do is put two pieces in my wood stove, front to back, about 2 inches apart. I then stack two more pieces, side to side, over those. If I have room, I'll put two more pieces on top of those, again front to back. From there, I put one of these in that two inch gap, light it on fire and walk away. Minutes later, I always have a nice, roaring fire. I think after three or so years of using them, I can count on two hands the number of times I've had issues. Every single time it's my fault. Any time it happens, I just go back to the basics. Fire needs three things - heat (this), fuel and oxygen. Figure out which component you're missing and you'll solve the problem. You would think after using these literally over a thousand times that would be impossible, but things happen. Over the years of using these, we've figured out almost exactly how many we'll use per year. We use between 175-200 of them a year, so this 350 pack is certainly convenient for that purpose as a one-shot deal. It's a considerably sized pack of fire starters! That said, I have found it worthwhile to check pricing on the 50/100 packs as sometimes the smaller packs are actually less expensive. These are like buying ziplock bags, they don't "go bad" and will last for many years, beyond any reasonable expectation. It's paraffin and wood shavings, but at a scale beyond DIY and into pure convenience. I might be inclined to complain that the price of these has continually gone up since I started ordering them. This isn't some marvel of engineering. That said, I still think they are well worth the price. The fact that I never, ever have to make kindling anymore is absolutely worth it to me. The fact that I can start a fire from full size splits, without using any smaller pieces, makes it a no brainer. But, there is a line - so stop raising the prices!!!! Hint, hint. :) My only complaint about these is that I've become so freaking lazy about starting fires that I use these to start fires in my outdoor fire ring. I bring them camping. I used to be a master at starting fires, I could do it anywhere at any time with any wood. I just don't know about that anymore. Seriously, if you're in even half the situation I'm in with using wood for heating, these are worth it. If you're a seasoned fire buff, these 350 packs are very convenient. I'd encourage you to strongly consider whatever size pack you need.

We have used these for years, and they work great quick and easy. We stand them flat sides together leaning the tops together and light the edge.

Makes lighting a fire easy. Does the job, lasts just long enough. Box like this lasts me a couple years. So worth it.

We love using these to get the fire started. Starting a cold fire is always the hardest, but these make it so much faster and easier. Highly recommend.
