Super set of gold-tone earring hooks, great for making fashion jewelry
This is a very nice set of gold-tone earring hooks. These are the ones with the tiny ball already on its base – always a nice addition. The “gold” is a very pretty color – correct of “real” gold. Each hook appears to be sturdy enough for most expectations but not heavy, at all. The set was sent with an adequate number of silicone backs – the listing called them “safety back stoppers” – and a VERY SMALL jewelry cleaning cloth. The backs were in their own separate zip lock bag and that bag along with the loose hooks were in a small hard plastic case (good feature); then, the case and cloth were all in another zip lock bag. NICE CONFIGURATION FOR SHIPPING. I do not have any allergies nor do I ever really, necessarily, worry about metallic content when I am buying jewelry making materials. If that is a concern, please read the info provided in the listing very carefully. Judging from the price point, these are for d-i-y, fashion jewelry making and the metallic content may be very inexpensive and widely available.

Hypoallergenic
I had a customer who was concerned that she would be allergic to these because her ears are very sensitive, but to everyone's delight these hooks didn't bother her at all. They hold up with heavy dangles and minor adjustments with my jewelry tools. I love that they come with backings. I've been happy with them and ordered multiple times.

They tarnish
First thing I thought was that they're small, they're not as big as regular earring hooks I'm used to but I could live with that. However, after just a few qeara the gold starts to rub off and you're left with a silvery looking metal. I was a upset but hey I should've known they would tarnish.Gold plater copper (and brass or zinc) will tarnish. If it's not gold, gold plated silver or stainless steel...it will tarnish. And it's so hard to find real good quality gold plated jewelry on Amazon but I have to find something better for my customers
