Good idea, poor design
I switched to this bamboo slicer guide after my old plastic one began falling apart and the knife handle on my old slicing knife was beginning to break. I chose this since it could replace both. While the fold-up design is good in theory, the problem is that the width of the base has to accommodate the height of the sides rendering the base well over an inch wider than the bread loaves generated by most consumer bread machines. The result is the bread loaf moves around too much *and* the knife is too short to remain engaged in the slicing slots while cutting. One way to remedy this would be to shorten the height of the sides so that the base could be more narrow. The knife itself is very nice, with a good weight and feel to it and I like the little magnets that hold it conveniently to the base. The slicing guides, in conjunction with the width of the spaces, make for very thick slices. Because the spaces between the guides have been made wide enough to accommodate the placement of the back wall it leaves a lot of play for the knife, rendering a slice that is up to 3/4 in. (1.5 cm) thick even using the narrow guides. This could be solved by making only one wide space in the middle for the rear wall insert and thinner slots for the knife beside all the rest of the guides. You would then turn the whole thing around based on whether you want thick or thin slices. It is advertised as having 3 slicing widths, but there are only 2, so placing the rear wall in the middle would not interfere with choosing slice width. For those having issues with the side walls staying upright while slicing you have to turn the whole thing over 180° from its folded position before standing the walls up and inserting the holder that makes the rear wall for the bread loaf. (See pictures)We use our slicer daily so I will be keeping this one, but will be looking for one that does not have the issues this one has. If you only need to use a slicer guide infrequently or need it to store away then this one will suffice, but I cannot give it a 5 star recommendation.

Not as useful as it seemed
This seemed like a good idea when I saw it but it really isn't as useful as I thought. My knife skills are not that great so I though that this might be helpful in getting straight slices on my home made bread. But there is a problem. The knife stores along side the wooden guide and is held there by two small magnets, they do a decent job of keeping the knife in place. The problem is that knife is too short and is just barely longer than the wooden guide is wide. This means that you have to start the cut by drawing the knife back, then when you go to push it forward it may not go back into the slot on the other side.I still use the knife to slice my bread but just do it freehand and concentrate harder on making a straight cut. I don't bother with the wooden guide.

Nice!
Only thing wrong is part of wood is cracked where you slice. Otherwise a very nice handy product!

Needs a longer knife
The sides rotate, and when they are in correct position, the bread can be cut all the way through. If you think it's not cutting the last inch, you need to rotate the sides to face the other direction. That being cleared up since no directions come with it, it does work. The problem I have is the knife is too short and you constantly have to realign it. It's also a bit of a hassle moving the bread to the smaller slice area. Three (six actually) separate sized slide-in boards would have been a better alternative.

Highly recommended-Great bread slicer EVER!
The media could not be loaded. I have been searching quality bamboo-made bread slicers for a long time and finally I find this one and after use, I can say this one is the best. I like this bamboo product - fresh pleasant bamboo smell, sturdy and also not bulky, moreover, it is very precision designed and made. It can make consistent slices with very little knife wiggling. And it is foldable. I like this design! It can save a lot of storage space. The knife is very quality and great to slice! The container itself can be used as a tray for bread, cheese, fruit, besides holding all bread crumbs. Overall, It is well-crafted with high quality! I highly recommend this product! It will add a nice feeling and great use to your daily routine!

Wanted to love it but...
2 of the slats were cracked. If I had used it they would have broken through. However I liked the design of it and how small it is when folded for storage. Sent back for an exchange. Will see how the replacement is.

Functional, easy to use and clean
The bamboo was easy to put together and keep clean. The knife was functional but had several burrs in the manufacture process
