I was canning apple butter and did not like this product. So I ordered a liquid product instead.

Don’t confuse sarsaparilla with Indian sarsaparilla, Hemidesmus indicus. The Indian sarsaparilla is sometimes used in sarsaparilla preparations but doesn’t have the same active chemicals of the sarsaparilla in the Smilax genus.

I always buy. Horrible smell. Smelt very old.

I made herbal tea with Starwest Botanicals Sarsaparilla. I got 4 ounces for $17 and its not worth it. It does have the sarsaparilla taste but it also tastes like the smell of cardboard boxes and has a slight hand sanitizer smell. I've seen locals near me and other amazon sellers sell better quality at lower prices. I recommend people just buy elsewhere.

This is my first time ordering this product but it works great as a tea. The flavor was nice and also had a nice aroma. The taste is like a diet root beer unsweetened. I imagine it would taste great with a sweetener. It really does look like tiny twigs. The package was a bit large for the four ounces but the weight was correct. This was a good experience I just wish it was a bit less expensive. $22
