It is that good. There is so much wisdom that to mention all of it would actually be to restate every word of it. The source of course is the Bible. If you are a parent with no understanding of Biblical texts please give this book a chance and digest it. I challenge you to discard prevailing norms like trying to be your child's friend and not parent, or like constantly praising them for who they are and not for what they DO. Use this book as reference for you and for when your children have children. Pay no attention to the one star ratings. I read them all. They make claims of which don't reflect the book at all! Their utter hatred of Christianity dictates their thinking and conclusions. Some I don't even think read the book.This book reflects the values of Americans before the 1960's. If you want America to be a better country AND become the best parent you can be please buy this book. Buy this to overcome natural tendencies like to over -coddling. Incorporate the many simple but beneficial strategies for great parenting. Christian or not, the goal of parenting is to produce accountable and responsible adults. Happiness is the natural outcome. There is a huge range of parenting styles out there, and every child is different and will require a different form of discipline. However, this is the ONLY parenting book I own that I have re-read time and time again when faced with one of those nasty issues with one of my children that I feel so helpless to conquer.Each chapter is chock full of creative ideas. Your kids can't stop fighting? Have them go outside and scream "I love you!" back and forth 20 times. Too much whining? Send them to time-out, and don't let them come back until they've put their complaints to music. There are some ideas in Lisa Whelchel's book that I don't agree with and will not be trying with my children, but there are also a lot of really good, practical ideas in the book that I have had much success with.My favorite chapter included a list of undesirable behaviors (whining, lying, sibling rivalry, boasting) and some scriptures that address these behaviors, because I don't want to just change my children's undesirable behavior, I want their hearts to be transformed by God's Word. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Parenting Book *by H***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 30, 2011* For years my husband and I have struggled to practically and effectively bring more scriptures into our parenting styles and interactions with kids. Lisa is brilliant at sharing her own stories so you can not just relate as a parent, but also have vision and hope for your kids, too. We are so thankful to be reading this with a three-year-old and five-year-old and are already brainstorming ways to incorporate Lisa's tips into our daily lives.This would be a great book to read through with girlfriends and other parents to process through what's working and what's not working in your home.
