HFS (R) Hold Down Clamp Clamping Set Kit Bridgeport Mill (3/4" Slot 5/8" Stud)

A lot of bang for the buck for a home machinist! I've checked every piece in this hold down set and every hole and thread was good. I like the way the studs lock just secure enough when screwing into the tees allowing them not to stick out of the bottom of the tees and it lets you tighten the nut without spinning. If you rather have it free thread all the way through the tees just run a tap through them. I see no reason to spend any more than what I did buying this set at the price I paid. Do your research to get the best price and defiantly check the shipping charges from some sellers- they like to real you in with a lower price to only jack up their shipping prices way above what it should be. That is why I like and shop with Amazon Prime. For the number of purchases I make yearly it pays off for me along with a no hassle return policy if needed and 2 day shipping. That is why I'll sometimes buy yellow bananas instead of green if I want to eat them now and not wait a few days! Just saying. All the stepped clamps matched up very good and hold very securely without any flex. The packaging was perfect and I had no damage or missing parts. The storage unit is very adequate and nice to mount on a wall as I did. Bottom line is- if this is what you are looking for I highly recommend that you consider this hold down set from this seller. Make sure you measure your slots with a caliper first. I threw a tape measure up on there and because of the bevels to the slots I wasn't able to get a good read on that and got 9/16". Bridgeport mills have 5/8" t-slots, so the other variations should not use the word Bridgeport in my opinion. I know I screwed up on the measurement, but ultimately this is going to cost the seller money on returns, and it's in their best interest to clean up the titles.The above said, I bought one of the proper sized ones years ago, and I'd say they are of barely adequate quality given the price. Some of the t-nuts had to be stoned down to fit in the slots, while others were a bit loose. Some of the step blocks had such poorly cut teeth on them I had to file those down as well, so understand this before purchasing. If you're doing production work and you need these to work right out of the box with no hassle, they are not for you. Go get the ones from McMaster Carr for more than twice as much and they'll pay for themselves in saved billable shop time. If you're a hobbyist or home-gamer like me, these will work, but you may have to clean them up a bit to get them to work right.I knocked only one star off because these are about the cheapest around and given the fact that ones from any other seller/brand in the same price range probably came from the same factory in China, it's probably best to just shop based on price and hope you get a set that isn't so bad you need to return. On cheap tools, you're the quality control department. The star off is half for the description issue and the fact that it caused me to have to take an extra few days to finish my project. Again, I should have used my calipers to measure, but this would be very easy for the brand owner on this listing to just delete the word Bridgeport from all the listings besides 5/8".

Good bang for the buck

This product is a super value . Simple an ridged . I see a lot of comments claiming this product to be of poor craftsmanship an simply not usable . I believe these comments come from beginners who just don't know the trade . This product is not precision ground or treated with special rust inhibitors , But it doesn't need to be to do its intended job . You can buy precision ground tooling clamps with all the finer points , but you'll pay 10 times the money. Personally I am thankful a company out there is willing to make simple tools that get the job done and keep cost down for us that can't afford to buy top notch ! Great product , I am very happy with my purchase and will definitely buy from this seller again.

I am using these on my Harbor Freight round column milling machine. Perfect fit in the slots and the slotted hold arms are substantial with no bending or breaking so far. The step blocks are precision made and fit together as they should. The holder is a metal frame with plastic dividers and hangs from the wall sturdily. Great quality.

Ordered the 9/16 T slot hold downs. They were the right size for me which was great. The T nut number was listed, but i wish they listed the dimensions of the T nut instead. Had to google and search for a while to make sure the wider part of the T was gonna work on my mill. Biggest problems are with the holder. The pictures showed it being a red holder. The one I received is blue. It is also described as a metal holder. This one has a metal back and bottom plate but the holders are plastic. Hold downs seem to be of decent quality, but inaccurate descriptions are frustrating.

Good looking quality (hardened steel). Unfortunately would not be able to test as product received is not the same as advertised. Ordered for Bridgeport Series 1: 5/8" slot with 1/2" stud and received 1/2" slot with 3/8" stud. Hopefully seller re-lists the item with the correct description to avoid having same issue with the next buyer.

Good quality set that will outlast me. Nice to see they reinforced the case with a sheet metal back and bottom to support the extra weight. Make sure you order the right size, this is for 5/8" slotted tables.

I definitely do not recommend this clamp set. I own a similar set which I purchased twenty plus years ago.The present set is a much more cheaply put together set. The tee nuts are manufactured for a looser fit to thehold down grooves. The case is mostly plastic. I will keep the new set only because of the hassle shipping themback. Even China can do better than this. Spend more to get a proper fitting set of clamps

Well made and sized. All parts fit together well and seem quite strong and robust. It came with a very nice steel case which is made to hang on the wall which keeps everything in order and easy to access.I would highly recommend this set!
