Gerber Center-Drive Plus Multi-Tool with Bit Set (1)

This is my second Gerber multi tool - replacing one I had for 20 years, which sadly lost. The center drive is perfectly positioned and balanced. This is a nicely weighted multi tool, with a practical selection of tools and bits. The one-handed feature for opening the blade and the driver is a huge help. Nice rustic leather holder.

I have carried a Gerber multi plier 600 for the past 7 years or so, and it has lasted really well. I would say this tool is a decent upgrade. It has true one hand opening and closing, and can be flicked open. The fact the knife and driver can be accessed without opening the tool is also nice, and acts almost like a regular folding knife. The tool fits well in the hand. When extended, the pliers have a slight rattle to them, but so did my previous tool and it never affected function, but I would say it’s one of the few things I could ding this tool for at its price point. The other tools lock up nice and tight. The bit set is a great option to have, and the leather sheath it comes with is quite nice looking, albeit a bit stiff, but I’m sure it will break in with time. Hopefully it will give me another decade of service like my last Gerber multi tool.

I have owned several different multi-tools, Leatherman, Gerber etc. and used several more. This is the best one I have ever used. I was very surprised how much better the center drive screwdriver works compared to regular multi-tools. I have always like the way Gerber lets you get to the pliers one-handed and with this one you can also get the screwdriver and the knife with one hand, GREAT. They are a little pricey, but well worht it in my opinion.

I bought this based on an AI recommendation from Grok. I was asking for a Leatherman with all my features plus spring-loaded pliers. This tool has excellent spring loaded pliers... if you can figure out how to get them out. The sliding button style is not intuitive, not convenient, and somewhat kludgy. The center-axis screwdriver is cool, but not worth extra space and weight. Especially when you consider using the Leatherman ratchet driver instead! It's also entertaining to consider that the "center-drive", while centered from the wide side, is off-center from the narrow side. Overall, this took is bulky and awkward, and nowhere near the premium experience of my Leatherman multitools.

Easy to use, the center drive feature is a game changer, snap out pliers are perfect for one hand use, feels great in hands, looks cool. Overall very satisfied!
