I bought this to train my dog to stop barking during inappropriate times and at first I was definitely on the fence! The directions could use improvement such as more detail and clarification (I'm not sure if the last line is a language barrier issue or my husband and I just disn't get it, either way we had a good laugh:). I couldn't figure out how to adjust the whistle frequency so I used it on the frequency it came with. It was audible but high pitched. It definitely got my dogs attention which is what I want but it didn't seem to bother or annoy him enough to get him to stop his bad behavior so I brought the whistle to a dog trainer I know but never took classes with. He proceeded to use it while working with my dog, as well as other dogs in the class and he says he got results. His opinion is that the whistle works as intended but unless you yourself are trained in how to actually use it to train a dog you may end up just blowing it for shock value. And the more you blow it the less shocking it will be to the dog anyway. I am giving it 5 stars based on an actual dog trainers opinion. My own experience would be 3 stars but since I had no idea how to use it - that might not be a well informed opinion.

The issue is not simply that my dog ignores it, that should just be a matter of training. My problem with this product is that testing it with a sound analyzer shows that it simply does not work. There is a broad spectrum of noise when you blow it that changes slightly with adjustment. However, I was never able to get any sort of reasonable peak outside of the human range and the peak within my hearing is not loud. Appears to be a broken whistle rather than a dog whistle - a complete waste of money

Do not know if it works or not. I was trying to quiet my neighbors dogs who bark CONSTANTLY. They have no control over these dogs. They kill neighbors pets, bite passersby on sidewalks, and when I say they bark constantly you do not really have a conception of these gnikcuf mutts. I do not mind animals, but irresponsible dog owners should be put to sleep. I tried talking to these people to no avail. The law favors dog owners and what the dogs do. So, I am left to my own devices which include a dog whistle that I blow constantly without any result. So. as to my review. I say this thing does not work effectively because the dogs that I am trying to deal with live next door to me and still CONSTANTLY bark.

Essentially worthless. Silent this whistle is not, nor is it effective.Sound is of a kids train whistle. While annoying, no dogs seem bothered even in the slightest.

I think it works. :) I haven't had much occasion for the reason I bought it, so time will tell. My only disappointment is in the microscopic print on the box. Some sort of guide on how to use. I would have preferred something more understandable or in print inside the box.

Don't know how or why but this thing works. I have a couple of little-ish dogs that occasionally don't want to come back inside. My wife and I used to just bang on the porch railing or make noise with a dog toy until they came. Bought this on a whim a few weeks ago, thinking maybe it'd work.So far so good. They usually both come running on the first toot. I don't plan on training them to do any of the other things. It works pretty well as just a "come here" whistle. The first bunch of times they came running right away. They are starting to taper of a tiny bit, sometimes it takes a few toots but no problems.Depending on how hard you blow you can hear the whistle a little. I get the feeling like the sweet spot is when you can't really hear anything but the dogs can. Neat whistle, I might downgrade later if my dogs decide it was just the novelty and stop listening to it.

I thought this was going to help with my dogs barking. It's loud not silent like it says on here. It's like a regular whistle. It does calls my dogs attention to come to me, but also all other dogs on both sides of my neighbors start barking like crazy when they hear the whistle!!!! Not happy at all 😡 !!!!

I have a 2 and half year old golden lab puppy. Needless to say, we are still training her with certain commands but when calling her to come inside, this whistle works wonders! She comes BOLTING in! I love that it has a lanyard attached to it; it is a huge help since I have two kids under 3 years old, so when we all go to the park this makes my life easier! I would recommend this whistle to anyone who is having complications with their dog listening or anyone who has a new puppy and is starting to train!
