Cables through the walls
I had to run an ethernet cable from one room into another adjoining room. These worked great. Located the proper position on either side of the wall. Drilled a hole just big enough (caution, try pushing the grommet in before you drill further). Used a soft mallet to tap in; ran the cable through, and put the covers on. This was a great solution.

Almost perfect, but likely to be as close as you'll get for under ten bucks. I'd give it 4.5 stars if Amazon allowed it. I used two to conceal a 35 foot run of of LFE cable (subwoofer cable) -- one where the cable entered one wall, and the other where the cable exited another wall. These make the holes look trimmed out and professional. The only thing that would make them a little better is if the cylinder had a few raised ribs on it. It's pretty smooth and pretty slick, so you'll want to use a little bit of caulk or glue to hold it in place if you're using this in Sheetrock. If it were ribbed, slightly, you could tap in in place with a rubber mallet after drilling a one inch hole and it would be locked in place. If you're wondering whether or not an HDMI cable will fit through it, I'd say probably not. Just to see, I tried with the HDMI cables I use. It's just a tad bit too small. I use a fairly beefy HDMI cable. Perhaps one with a slimmer plug might just fit, but it would be close. Banana plug speaker cables and RCA cables work just fine, so long as you have enough length where the cable splits to be able to put each plug (red/white, +/-) through one at a time. Nice little solution to trimming out holes in walls for cables.

Worked Great for My Project
I used these nice grommets to cover the 1" holes in the ceiling and walls drilled to feed the cables for security cameras when I had my security system installed. When you remove the grommet covers, the larger ends on the three-lead cables for audio/video and the larger ends of HDMI cable just barely fit through these (with a little wiggling), and then when the covers were snapped on, there was very little gap around the cables. They worked great to cover the drilled 1" rough holes and make the installation look professional and finished, plus they keep any loose ceiling insulation from falling through (you just need to remember to use them as you go before you hook your wires up). I had purchased a package of five of these black grommets for the house exterior and a package of five of the white grommets for my ceilings and walls here on Amazon; as I could only find 2" desk grommets or larger at the local office supply and hardware stores. I wish Amazon would reference these 1" grommets better in their supply inventory; since even if you enter "1" desk grommet" in Amazon's site search, you still have to peruse an immense number of pages of grommets to find this 1" size which appears to be carried by only one or two suppliers (these are available in an almond color too). These grommets are sturdy, well made, and nice looking. They could work for a variety of uses besides just covering a wire feed hole on a desktop.

Just what I was looking for to make clean look for small wires.
I used these to make a clean finished look for small wires through drywall. Used one at my sprinkler timer and the other at my garage opener for the sensor wires (finished garage.)

Great product
I recently made a hole in the wall to run a cable. I figured its just one cable and I could probably make a nice clean 1/2 inch diameter hole without much mess. Well a few minutes later I realized I had made a ghastly looking hole in the sheetrock and was adamant I would find a solution to cover it up. I looked around for possible solutions and stumbled across grommets. Next I went to a few home improvement stores and found they only had these things in 1.5 - 2 inches. These were going to require I make a notably larger hole just to cover it up. I decided to take a look online and found these 1 inch grommets and a few days later I had that little hole all covered up and looking great. Hard to find these sizes in store so I definitely recommend ordering this if it suits your needs.

It works fine in a 1 inch hole
It was a white grommet I installed into my drywall for speaker wire in home theater. Robust enough for the application. A little pricey for injection molded plastic, but what else is new, I needed it.

As advertised...
The color is very similar to the switchplate covers on our walls so blends well. 1" hole into the drywall, the fit is good, ideally a bit more snug would be better but drywall is different that the wood that most will drill through for these. Much neater display on the walls now that the cords are behind the wall.

It worked well
Used it to plug in a hole in the wall where we had a wire being feed in for the new thermostat. Covered the hole well and looks so much neater.
