If the light doesn't work when you get it, take the batteries out. There is a piece of paper in between them. Remove that and replace the batteries and then the light will work.

Works fantastic! You can really see all those little hairs. Thank you for a great product. Sturdy. A little tricky to get the batteries going at first. They are reversed and you need to take them out and put them in the correct way for the light to work

We needed a pair of tweezers for our outdoor first aid kit. These fit the bill. We've primarily used them for removing ticks (it's been bad this year!) - however, they've also made short work on a couple of splinters.The main issue I've had has been the light. It's not essential for me to have lighted tweezers, but if there's a light it would be nice for it be reliable.First a note: your light comes with a piece of paper between the batteries and the connection, you need to remove it for the light to function. This is a good feature, it means your light doesn't arrive with dead batteries.Now the light itself, for our purposes it's bright enough, the issues are with reliability. The light opens up by being unscrewed from the tail cap. I've found that if it is too tight the light won't function and if it's too loose the light won't function. If you need to use the light you might end up fiddling with it a bit to get it to work.

For me, the best way to tell if tweezers work well is if they can easily grip a single eyebrow or hair and *hold* it when I pull. Many do not pass this test. The next test is comfort and ease of use on my arthritic hands. These tweezers passed with the highest marks. The only downside was that I had to get a screwdriver to undo the top to the battery compartment to remove the battery-protector paper for the first use of the light. Because I bought a set for my disaster kit--which we all hope will never be used!--I chose to not remove the paper so that the batteries will stay good for a longer time. I attached a small tool that can be used to get the battery cover off before putting the tweezers in my kit.

Good and affordable gift but tweezers stopped grabbing properly after a couple of months and the battery died way before.

The light is genius! Every hair is illuminated. FYI: There is a little round piece of plastic in the battery compartment so the batteries don't run down before purchase. This does mean that you have to unscrew the battery cover to remove it before first use. The package doesn't mention this, so I thought they didn't work when I first opened them. They work great though!

This little piece is actually incredibly convenient. The placement of the flashlight is great and the way it's attached to the tweezers is actually pretty ingenious; the screw at the back goes through the metal body of the tweezers and into the flashlight thing.My only complaint is that the button for the light is exposed and if you toss it into a packed medical kit it can sometimes get jostled and pressed without you noticing it.I actually had to use this to remove a couple of splinters the last time I was camping, and it worked great for that - the tip of the tweezers are very fine and perfect for removing splinters, beestings and the like.
