worldofbooksusa was spot on for "some wear and tear". I just wanted a material copy of Lane's book, The Experience of God. Wear was what looks like some moisture got to a few pages. Overall great shape.

This book is a summary of extensive study into the topic of, in a word, revelation. It's as if the author had read a library of books in theology, thought about it for years, and then put his thoughts in summary form into a 3 chapter book. I am not an academic theologian, but I thought that Dermot Lane gave ample evident of a first rate, incisive, analytical mind. The book is not light reading, is not necessarily a "feel-good" book, but his insights, and clarity of exposition, make the book well worth the effort.The thought crossed my mind that this book could perhaps serve as an introduction for a graduate-level course on 21st century theology.

An excellent introduction to contemporary theology. An example of considerable academic knowledge expressed in a way that could be understood and appreciated by all people seeking Christian Truth.

although I like this small book it is not one for a beginner.It goes right into the deep end,experience,God,theology.The first chapter is the most demanding.One would have to be quite well-read in current Christian theology to getthe most out of it.Not for the dilettante or amateur,but otherwise suitable for the student who wishes to keep abreastwith recent trends in Catholic theology.

There have been a number of reprints for this book. I can see why. It is the most elucidating book I have read on practical pastoral theology ever. The scholarship is entertwined with the practical.The presence of God is emphasised in theology, which in our modern era does not seem to be important for so many people. Dermot Lane has reintroduced the living chain of connection of what it is all about.JT Cribben

The book is fine. There are better books, but an ok systematic treatment of experience in theology. The condition was as advertised, but the shipping took more than 3 weeks. i thought it had gotten cancelled...
