Get one for on the go, in the office and multiple places around the house. Almost anywhere you'd keep memo pads, sticky notes or scrap paper. The Boogie Board tablet's pressure-sensitive LCD writing surface creates lines of different thickness based on how hard you push - just like paper and pen!

Useful gadget for the technophile
I purchased this along with the black carrying case in order to easily carry lists around with me. You don't need the stylus in order to write with it but it is useful. The board won't smudge when you rest your hand on it to write and the writing is pretty clear. The contrast is not as great as the picture here shows but it is very readable anyway.Using it is very simple - just use the stylus or any hard item to write with. When you want to erase, just press the erase button on top. That's it.I would have loved to be able to store multiple pages of notes in this one place but you only get one. I haven't had it long enough to know if the battery life is as eternal as they say in the product description.I was worried that when I carried it around in my purse the erase button would get pushed accidentally, but it hasn't happened yet. I have been carrying it with the case and in an outside pocket to prevent that, but the button is not that sensitive. To erase, you really have to push it firmly. For what I needed it, it was really perfect. I plan on putting velcro on the back of it and sticking it to the inside of my kitchen cabinet for easy grocery list-making.There are plenty of other ways to make digital lists - with tablets, smart phones, etc. The great thing about this product is simply that it's easy to use, incredibly light, and replaces paper for those times when you would prefer to sit at the table and just write a list with a pen.

Great for practice!
I used this for MONTHS while practicing Japanese Kanji while I lived in Japan. It always worked flawlessly for that purpose. I could just fill the screen up with practice characters and with the press of a button, it was GONE! No more dealing with broken pencil leads, smeared ink on my hand, buying (and losing) expensive pens (I use Gel pens, at $1.50+ a pop), etc, etc.About 2 months ago I finally gave in and went back to paper for practice. Once I realized I could actually use up a 60 page paper notebook, I lost the guilt that came with buying them (The guilt you feel when you have 30 notebooks in your office, and NONE have more than 4 pages used).Even with that, I feel like I got it's worth out of it from the months that I did use it...plus I have the feeling that eventually I'm going to use it for practice in the future.Overall this is a great product. It does have MANY uses. It'd be the perfect solution for family messages on a refrigerator, jotting down names and phone numbers, grocery lists, math, etc.

Boogie on down the road with your kids
How do you get a 5 year old to do homework? Use the boogie board.Sure it is fancy piece of paper with an eraser which erases the whole page in one click.Sure it is a 21st century etch-a-sketchAnd sure it keeps my kid doing 3 + 8 = 11 for a few hours! And frankly the price is right, and the size is right for his little hands. He enjoys playing with his boogie board, he can do counting, draw pictures and not make a mess.If I had one item to improve, is that I would have had a pen holder on the side. And then I would use a string to attach the pen to the board. It makes a nice gift and can server both a practical purpose to help engage your kid with taking notes and doing puzzles, math or drawing, but also be used for fun! Just a neat, simple piece of technology!
I'm purchasing several of these boards to give as Christmas gifts to kids anywhere from 3-12. The younger ones will enjoy scribbling on the very forgiving surface, and the older ones will no doubt use it for homework to save paper. It's the neatest, simplest piece of technology to come out in awhile, and it's doing its part to save the earth! My 6 year old granddaughter received one for her birthday and she has a great time practicing her letters, numbers, and "pop up" words on it. Neat idea and can be taken anywhere. It's so thin, you could slide it into a book. Comes with magnets for refrigerator use (I've borrowed it a few times for my lists), and a clip on stylus holder. Just a neat little product. The paperwork says the battery will never need replacement, and I like that, too.

Boogie Board LCD tablet - perfect for my needs
This Boogie Board is for use as a list/reminder tool (at least as far as my purposes). i hate the clutter of post-it notes and scribbles/scraps of paper everywhere. i've found if i MAKE a list then i have something tangible and visible for me to do and check off. my friends and colleagues said "why don't you just get and iPad or Transformer or something?" well first of all they cost a WEE more and second, i don't need all that functionality, perhaps in the future yes, but for now, i just need a list i can mark off. while this may NOT be for everybody, if you are looking for something to jot your notes down and have them somewhat organized then this might be the product for you. i am thoroughly satisfied with this device and it is keeping me on track.

Just what I expected
People expecting this to allow backup to a computer or other fancy features are missing the point. This is not an electronic notepad, it's an electronic whiteboard. You use it for quick notes or messages, then wipe it clean. I have been using a small white board for this purpose while working. This is a lot nicer and cleaner. No having to wipe it clean, no smell of the markers and no worrying about the markers drying out while I am working. It would be nice if it was a little larger but the thing I really wish it had is the ability to partially erase the screen in case of mistakes. As for battery life, I read somewhere that it's good for 50,000 wipes and uses absolutely no power except during the screen wipe. So it should last for a while.
