Bandai 73963 - GFF ms-05s Char aznable zaku I, Multicolour

MS-05S Zaku I was released in Japan in January 2021 at a price of 22,000 yen or around $202 US. I managed to get mine from Amazon for $180 + $9 tax. I got a very good price made all the better by the fact that the Bandai Gundam figures tend to sell for well above MSRP in the United States, even upon their initial release. It was the price that sold me on this figure because I wasn’t in love with its look. There is a Gundam look and this figure doesn’t have it. However, now that I own the figure it has really grown on me.This figure is part of a series of figures from Gundam The Origin, an Anime that I have yet to see. MS-05S is part of the Fix Figuration Metal Composite line, which is the premium line. This line also includes the MS-06R-1A, MS-06C (which I own) and MS-06S. Other Origin figures can range in price all the way down to around $13. The MS-06S came out in fall 2019 at the same price as the MS-05S but is already selling for nearly $500. I’ve seen prices on eBay even well above that. You have to be very careful because there are figures from Bandai that look nearly identical in pics but are vastly different in price and quality. The figure I’m reviewing is the top of the line.How does one justify $200 for a 7” figure? These are some of the densest, most rock-solid figures I have ever owned. Bandai did not skimp on the die-cast with the figure having all die-cast joints and I believe the internal structure of the figure is die-cast as well as the feet and right shoulder armor. The plastic is very high quality and the figure features heavy rubber on the feet, knees, elbows and chest. I really like these rubber accents and they bring a unique level of class to the figure.The die-cast joints do give a certain stiffness to the articulation and I’m on the fence as to whether I prefer die-cast or plastic joints. Die-cast is more durable, but these are figures not machine parts and highly unlikely to ever wear out. Most collectors of high-end robot figures prefer die-cast joints and the joints here are definitely not so stiff as to be problematic.I bought MS-05S right after buying MS-06C because I was so impressed. They are pracitically palette swaps but there are enough differences that I felt that, for me, it was worth owning both. I also have a feeling that the current prices are not going to last long. The prices I see on Amazon for the MS-06S can reach the seven and eight hundreds, but the sold items are almost all under $300. Still, that’s a lot for a figure released less than two years ago. This is definitely one of the most well put together 7” robot figures I own and if the MS-06R-1A Zaku II goes on sale for a reasonable price I’ll probably add a third to my collection. It does seem like I missed my window of opportunity on the MS-06S because I don’t intend to pay those scalper prices.

This line of Gundam figures is top notch. From the tiock and heavy plastic , to the solid dicast metal joints and then to the intricate paint detail and the impressive size. If you like the original Gundam mech this is a must have for the collection.

Very nice detail and hefty. I don't think I'll bother with any model kits for now on.

私の手元に来た製品は首の保持力が全くなく、恐らく不良品でした。ちゃんと検品しているとは思えません。

Mine also came with loose head joint.How is this possible?It would be stupid not to notice this issue at any point in factory assembly.Not a metal composite quality I was looking for.Update:So the loose neck was easily fixed by re-attaching the head to the body with thin plastic film between the ball joint. I used little piece cut out from the material that was wrapping the zaku in the package. So I give three star.

MS－05いわゆる旧ザクが好きなので購入。商品の仕様はオリジン版シャア専用機の上にザクⅡの一部装備品を取り付けたカスタム機なので不満はありますが商品自体は悪くはありません。完成度は高く安定の堅固な作りに超合金らしく程よい重さと塗装精度にマーキングなど満足は出来ます。関節は少し固いですが問題なく良く動きます。不満と問題点はコックピットハッチ下側が外れやすくてゆるく上側と上手く噛み合わない事です。MS－06SザクⅡは購入しなかったので欲しくなりました。旧ザク黒い三連星仕様は出ると思いますがノーマル仕様の旧ザクは無理出ないかな…しかし販売価格の下落が凄くて損した気持ち。ザク好きにはお勧めです。

高額商品の性質上あってはならない個体差が激しく満足と不満が交差する商品なので､後発で購入検討されている方々の参考になればとレビューです｡まず初期不良と囁かれている首の保持力は全く問題なし｡割合の個体数は定かではありませんが購入を留まっていたり価格下落の最たる要因の1つと思われるのでもし当たった方は迷わずメーカーへ即交換依頼すれば対応してくれるようなので領収書を用意できる所での購入を勧めます｡ダイキャスト製の関節部はかなり硬く堅牢性に信頼は置けるが､やはり腰部の保持力だけは多少の不安要素が拭えません｡これはMS-06SやMS-06Cでも共通なので改善を望む代表箇所として以前より挙がっておりますが､本機はコクピットハッチ噛み合わせは問題なく下側が外れ易い症状もありませんでしたが､構造上､下部の先端突起部が必ず干渉し隙間がある状態だと擦れて塗装剥がれが起きるのでクリアランス確保してから前傾姿勢に戻すコツが要るなどかなり要注意です｡どうやら隙間が出来る仕様のようなので結論なるべく動かさない方が賢明です｡足首関節稼働域も相変わらず狭く､引き出しても効果薄でこれはザクのデザイン上の問題として妥協すべき点かもしれません｡モノアイが前面クリアパーツにより見えにくい点もそのままですが､敢えて過敏になる程見えないレベルでもないので許容範囲内かと…左手首と左右サイドアーマーが若干緩い機体に当たったので煩雑な動きや交換は控えます｡塗装箇所の色ムラもなく､実物は商品見本写真より若干暗めのマット系ですが非常に発色が良く重厚でとても綺麗です｡予想に反しプレ値を免れた有り難い商品であり､精度は他のザクと同じく高次元な完成品なので最安値を見極めて購入する価値はあります｡店舗や写真で眺めるよりも､目の前に飾り､手に取って本物を楽しむのも一興です！

頭部、首のジョイントの保持力が非常に弱い不良品が送られて来ました。17,000円(発売前予約)を超える価格の商品の品質管理に疑問これで、良いんでしょうか？バンダイさん
