Love it...BUY THIS MODEL.(but?)...1/2 the size of the original 1975 issued model, by the way!
YES BUY IT! I love Space:1999 and I had the original issue of this Eagle model back in 1975. Therefore I know this is a fact since I had that original version until 8 years ago. I received this NEW issue as a gift today for Christmas, December 25, 2018. This Eagle looks great so far, still in the package and I may not get around to building it for years but it is very obvious to me that this version is 1/2 the size of the original issue. I'm fine with that but we ORIGINAL Space:1999 fans may be expecting the same size model since the packaging looks EXACTLY the same from the outside. Now you know. As for the box it is a bit smaller than the original but almost the same size and this NEW issue EAGLE the box it is 99% better than the flimsy original version. In fact, the 1975 version was ONLY a cardboard box BOTTOM portion and this NEW issues is the harder 2 ply cardboard that does NOT collapse flat but also has photos on all 4 outer sides! Dimensions of the EAGLE on the sides visible when opening the box and taking the lid off and the bottom has photos! This FULL box is sturdy double ply cardboard that does not collapse flat when opened at all (NICE!!!) and emptied. Also, this model comes with a 7" x 9 1/2" (approximately) GLOSSY (NICE!!!) color cardboard stock photo of Space:1999 actor Nick Tate aka Captain Alan Carter. That is nice. Finally the sides of the box have photos which the original version did NOT have and on the back/bottom which was previously NOTHING but blank flimsy cardboard on the 1975 version NOW is a small photo of another issued Space:1999 model that has nothing to do with the show Space:1999 but was also issued in 1975 BUT the new version advertisements are tied in to the series by placing a photo of Catherine Schell as Maya in Space:1999. (NICE!!!)! So this model is fully recommended by me but I suggest you read other reviews on buyers who built this model as apparently the cargo clip is still NOT sturdy (mine broke off immediately on the 1975 version...so be careful attaching the pod and MORE CAREFUL taking it off the body of the EAGLE so as NOT to break it OFF) and in this NEW issue the Eagle landing gear pads are smaller than the actual Space:1999 Eagle model 1975 version, by the way. I can handle that. If you love Space:1999 you will LOVE this compact Space:1999 EAGLE model :) -Mark Gonzaga

Great kit with a lot of uses
I can't say I have any fond memories of Space 1999. I know I watched it as a kid, but, unlike Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, or Battle of the Planets, I could not tell you a single thing about the characters, plots, episodes or anything else. But I can tell you the ships were cool. Those I remember. This is a simple, fun kit that comes in around 11" long. I got it to use in 28mm science fiction games as a shuttle, it's a bit small for that but a little converting fixed that. The kit, like the ships, is very modular. The cockpit, landing gear, cargo, spine and engines are all separate pieces and it's not hard to kit-bash or convert this for other purposes. It look less than hour to build.I'll be picking up another one or two.

It's a fun kit that looks great
Great fun, and larger than I remember the old-school kits from the 70's. Not too many pieces, you can put this kit together in just an hour or two. Lots of decals, so builders have lots of options to customize. The center-module is a very tight fit, and the bracket that is suppose to hold it to the frame is garbage. I ended up glueing the center to the frame instead.

Still a good kit
No matter how many times this kit gets released, it sells quick, and becomes scarce almost overnight. While there are some aftermarket (expensive) kits that might be better, you still get the most bang for the buck with this AMT offering. As most modelers already know, the front and rear portions are molded in such a way that you can't see through the piping structure. And there is no cockpit for the nose. But other than those two concerns, the rest of the model is great. The cargo center section is still a separate part, and detachable. I've built 5 or 6 of these all the way back to the 1970's when they first came out (Fundimensions) , and it's still a fun kit to build.

Great model for Space 1999 fans!
I had this model when I was a kid. The kit is exactly the way it was a long time ago. The detail is good and simple to put together. The decals are over sized and hard to apply in areas. Despite all that it turned out nice.

always smaller than you think
I'm going to be building this as a drone :)Not sure just yet how I'm going to power it since my PCB will fit perfectly inside the main compartment. We'll see. I might pull out my 3d pen to build an extension. Sweet little model though and I'm looking forward to working on it as I haven't built a model in many years. Next comes the flatbed truck with tracks to haul it to the park but I will probably source that locally since I need it to be exact.

Blast from the future past! Fun model kit!
The Eagle space craft was the work horse of moon base Alpha in the hit tv show Space:1999. I built a dozen of these models when I was a kid in the 1970's. I was very excited to find out this kit had been reissued by MPC / Fun dimensions. I bought three of them. I had a blast putting them together and painting them.
