Birthday Gift that was a huge hit!
My 7 year old insisted that we get this as a gift for his friend's birthday. Certainly would not have been my first choice but we were wandering around the store for over an hour before we discovered this dragon so I simply gave in. This toy was the hit of the party! The colors are intense. The toy although plastic (typical) has a substantial feel. The boys had no problem walking this dragon on carpet as well as hard wood floor. He does move slowly but he does move. He is quite loud but this was to the delight of all the boys! There are enough bells and whistles or in this case lights, movement, and sounds to captivate the 6-9or10 age group. Every boy at the party wanted this on their Christmas list.My boys want one and I will be purchasing one to put under our tree this year. I can see this dragon breathing new life (pardon the pun) into the boys Imaginext, Playmobile, Lego, and Fisher Price Knight/Castle Sets.I rated this toy high because of the boys. I was really surprised at how much of a hit this was and how much these boys actually played with it. The educational benefit rating came from the imagination it sparks. I love the fact that my boys are talking about taking their old toys out of the closet and setting them back up once this dragon comes into our home. One note, our toddlers were actually scared by the dragon, but the boys were having so much fun we just held the babies on our laps. This toy is a fantastic add-on for all children who are into the "fantasy, knight, castle" type of play and looking for a "bigger boy" alternative to the cutesy dragons that typically come with the sets.A good value considering the entertaining and "WOW APPEAL" this toy has! It is great to play with on its own and/or great to revive your children's "closet treasures."Perfect price for a perfect birthday gift full of lights, sound, action and fun!

Not a good choice with younger siblings around!
My almost 5 year old received this for Christmas from a relative. He was quite excited about it at first. It basically does 2 things: roars with red-lit eyes, or walks forward very slowly. As others have said, the walking functionality is not the most interesting thing ever; it is quite slow, and the motion is only moderately effective on both carpeted and hard floor surfaces. We also had problems with it stopping working, by Christmas evening; although new batteries seemed to fix that for the time being. The dragon is quite scary looking, and our 2 year old is terrified of it. Even my older son was vascillating between liking it and being somewhat scared of it, and was a bit spooked to go into his room by himself where this toy was. By 12/26, he had decided that he would prefer for this toy to be located somewhere else in the house, where it is less prominent but he can still play with it from time to time, as he wishes.I would stick with non-animatronic toys to truly stimulate creativity, and for long-lasting enjoyment that does not fizzle out after the initial rush of "new toy euphoria" has subsided.

Dragon Dud
My 8 year old son received this for Christmas. He was excited at first and began to play with it until it stopped walking. He might have dropped it on the floor to play with it, but whatever happened it stopped being able to walk within the first two minutes. So the durablity is very poor even if the sound and movements appeared awsome at first. I think it would not hold his interest after he figured out that it has only two main functions: walking and roaring.

unhappy after shipping
My son received this dragon for Christmas and was real unhappy to find out it either didn't survive the shipping experience or it was faulty to begin with. Even after new batteries, the legs wouldn't walk and the other features did not work, oh but the sound effects did!
