Bad Runner Up to Da Bird!
I tried this one because the Da Bird toy I originally purchased has some issues with not standing the test of time; knotted strings and Da Bird becoming detached from the string and the feathers shredding. Truth is, you need to learn how to work with Da Bird and perform minor repairs from time to time. But my kitty really goes nuts and attacks the Da Bird toy. He barely gets after this one and seems to stare at it more than anything else as I try to tease him into action. I thought I’d buy this one, because it seemed to be from what I read in other reviews, sturdier. Well perhaps it is sturdier BUT the sacrifice is that it’s not even remotely as inspirational a toy in terms of the excitement that it generates for my kitty versus Da Bird. This pole is very stiff and the action of the bird itself, flying through the air just does not seem comparable in any way to the more flexible rod of The Da Bird Pole and the swiveling bird feathers of the (Super Da Bird). My cat is almost disinterested in this toy. I was beginning to wonder if he had simply grown out of the bird and pole toy concept itself. Well I just got a Super Da bird replacement in the mail from Amazon and attached it to my old Da Bird rod and it’s like night and day . He went completely bonkers again and he got himself totally tuckered out chasing the thing and leaping around the apartment. My boy is pretty trim and I intend to keep it that way by giving him good exercise. Just remember I’m not referring to the toy I am reviewing here. I’m referring to the original DA Bird Pole with the Super Da Bird attachment. I spent more money for this one and it doesn't even come close to the level of excitement the original Da Bird generates. I assume if you’re reading this you're a cat lover like me because who else is going to be reading endless reviews about what toy is going to give your cat the most enjoyment. My opinion is skip this one. I don’t want to totally pan it because it does generate some meager interest and perhaps is good for an older cat that isn’t going to do much running and jumping. This one is a bad bad runner-up at best.

Great quality but not a hit with my cats
I might give this 3.5 stars just based on how my cats like it, but I gave it 4 stars because it is a very high quality toy (it better be - I found it to be a bit pricey). As with all things my cats play with or enjoy, it seems that the cheaper it is the better they like it (case-in-point: cardboard boxes instead of manufactured cat beds). There is a cheaper version of this on the market which most cat owners are aware of, Da Bird. This cheaper version is one that all 4 cats in my house go crazy for. Of course, it isn't as durable, but I can keep buying more as they wear out since they are inexpensive. As for The Bird Catcher Pro, it seems to be a bit much for my cats. The feathers are rather large and plentiful. This is scaring them off. They're a bit intimidated by it. My one cat, who has sensitive paws and doesn't like touching any toy that isn't less than delightfully gentle on them, hates this toy. And my other 3 cats just stare at it, intrigued but frightened, even when I barely inch it across the floor. Also, the string is too long. I suppose the entire toy could be adjusted by somehow shortening the string and taking off most of the feathers, but I didn't pay $20+ to buy something that I have to re-engineer (with no assurance my cats would like it even then). I do appreciate the efforts the manufacturer went through to make this sturdy. The handle is excellent and the feathers are of wonderful quality, with an extra set included. Perhaps it's just my finicky cats who give it a bad rap.

Way sturdier than other brands and my fat cat is moving!
I had a similar toy awhile back. The 2-piece pole kept separating. I taped it. It finally broke and I pitched it.This toy costs a little more, but is well worth the price difference. The pole stays intact after it is put together. It doesn't bend and bow like the other one, so I know it is made of much stronger material. This also came with a carry case and an extra "bird". The feather birds also seem to be more sturdy than the other version I had. I don't use the case for the pole because I would have to take it apart and I don't want to weaken the connection by popping it off and on. But I do keep the extra bird in it.I have a 5 month old kitten that plays with this like a freak. Not surprising since he is a typical kitten. He's happy with a piece of dried grass or a milk cap he can bat across the floor. Here's the amazing thing about this product...I have a 6 year old, fat, lazy toad of a cat that has never made a move to play with anything in his life. He actually propels his bulk upward and jumps in the air after this thing! He stalks and pounces. I think he is losing some weight. This could prolong his life. There's a bell on this...which I find a little irritating, but maybe the cats like the sound. I can say my fat cat never played with the old version I had....maybe the bell is a good thing. The only other drawback is that the connector seems a little too close to the tie on rope and it dings the pole as you flick it around. Not that big of a deal, but you can feel the vibration it causes as you hold the pole and the clank of the plastic is also annoying. I could fix this by making the string that connects to the pole a little bit longer, but haven't done it yet.

Perfect for my 2 kitties who have different styles. And yes, they'll steal it if not hidden
It's a great toy and no matter how much my lil boy pulls on it, it is very sturdy. He begs for it the moment he sees or hears it or when I'm fetching something from the closet it's hidden in while my other lady cat comes running from the other side of the room to share in the fun! (see photo, was hard to take he kept meowing for it and taking it away from the tape measure!)It has a 36 inch black string tied to a 1 inch white string at the top. The first reviewer probably received a toy with a missing part. It's 47 inch and the feathers are bigger than any other company I've tried. (And yes, ALL companies use tiny kittens to show cat toy size, check out cat tunnels lol) Very sturdy despite crazy kitten who loves to swing in the air up to 4 feet high to catch it (see blurry cat in photo, that's his style!)It's longer than the other popular brand so I can reach further with it but also the style of 'cat fishing' is different. So I'm happy I got both actually but if reach is the most important I'd go for this one. Also because the feathers are indeed bigger and my boy prefers that. He struts around when I finally let him catch it, he drags it while his sister tries to catch the stick behind him (supervised of course). They have very different styles of play but this toy accommodates them. My girl loves getting on hind legs and batting at it in the air, hiding behind objects and pouncing on it when it swings her way or tracking on the floor. He prefers to jump as high as possible multiple times in a row, hide and throw it high or make it dangle in his cat tent for him to pounce on and fight. Happy kitties and keeps them active. If you suffer from a disability, have weak arms and can only be in a recliner this toy works and that way kitties don't suffer from a lack of play anymore.

Loved the product but didn’t hold up
My cats absolutely love this product. The first feather lasted about a week and half and it was never left unattended with them as recommended. I replaced the feather as the first feather was still intact but the small clasp seems to have severed. When I replaced it the second feather broke in the same place after only 2 mins. Is the claps on the feathers I received defective? This toy has my kittens waiting to play and very engaged I’m disappointed in the durability of the product.

Fun! Cats love it.
Cats love it. Several months later and the toy is still intact. Worth the price.

you can't play with it like that. Cat's need at least 3 to 4 ...
Came with one inch of cord on the wand...you can't play with it like that. Cat's need at least 3 to 4 feet of cord before things get really fun. This set is an expensive joke.
