Product Description iTraq is the global location tracking device with the longest battery life. With reports set for once a day it will work 4 months on a single charge. It uses two location tracking technologies: GPS, which works outdoors, very accurate, but consumes the battery faster and Cell-ID, which is not accurate, but will work indoors and is easier on the battery. iTraq is one of the smallest (measuring 7x55x90mm) and lightest (42g) tracking devices, which makes it perfect for cases when space is limited and no bulky device can be used. iTraq is a truly wireless device. It has no connectors at all. To charge it simply place the iTraq on any Qi-compatible wireless charger. Customer can also share any iTraq device location at any point with other people through social media, messenger programs, or email. How it works? iTraq operations are driven by the customer defined schedule. Using the free iTraq mobile application (iOS or Android), customers can very easily define the frequency of the location reports. These reports can range from every 5 minutes to once a day. The battery life depends on the frequency of the reports. More reports per day - shorter the battery life. In between reports the iTraq enters into an offline sleep state, preserving battery life. If you want to see your device's location at any timeactivate OnDemand mode. Using OnDemand mode a customer can ask for the device location at any time as well as get scheduled updates. In the iTraq mobile application you have the choice to use GPS (accurate, outdoors, shorter battery life) or Cell-ID (approximate, indoors, longer battery life) tracking. Whenever iTraq cannot get find a GPS signal it will automatically revert to Cell-ID data. iTraq communicates using 2G GSM cell coverage if there is no 2G GSM cell coverage, the device will not be able to communicate with the iTraq application. About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words. Global Location Tracker How did you come up with the idea for this product? Our hardware guru, Ben, travels around the world, often loses track of his stuff (or the airlines do it for him), and has suffered through not being able to find things a few times. On a bike trip in Europe last year he managed to lose his wife. The reasons behind why and how the wife was lost are a can of worms we will not get into now, but the anxiety that builds up over the course of 8 hours being in a foreign country late in the afternoon with the sun setting, knowing that his wife had no money, phone, water, or anything with her was good motivation to make the iTraq. He wanted to ensure that problem never had to happen again. If that wasn't enough a couple months Ben shipped a piece of his heart, his ice hockey skates, from Germany to meet him in Spain, but that package didn't arrive as planned (or at all for that matter) and Ben never reconnected with his skates in Spain. That's it! Time to make the iTraq :) What makes your product special? Key elements of the iTraq are, firstly, that it works around the world without any roaming charges, so you get all the benefits of knowing where your valuables are without ever needing to think about roaming charges at anytime. iTraq truly creates world without boarders. And, secondly, the battery life is so long that if something actually gets lost your device will stay alive long enough to ensure you find it under normal conditions. We see other devices on the market that last a few days or 2 weeks on one charge. This just doesn't create a feeling of security the way iTraq does. What has been the best part of your startup experience? Being supported by thousands of customers from all over the world during our crowdfunding campaign was very encouraging. The Global Pilot Program, where we sent beta samples of iTraq to 200 end users in 50+ different countries, provided us with a coming of age, confidence building, experience. An open chat forum was setup on our website for beta testers to provide their uncensored feedback. We chose to put ourselves in this vulnerable position, knowing the potential for negative feedback, in order to get as many end user complaints and suggestions as possible so we could fix them. Our focus was on identifying and fixing problems, not getting caught up on the problems. Feedback from the Pilot Program revealed many opportunities to improve the iTraq which our engineering team did a great job coming up with solutions for. Now we feel very confident and proud in our product's quality and usability.
