Run fast, run far!
Ok, I get that this book was telling the story of how Violet came to be acquainted with the Dark Prince and what led to her having no memory of who she was. That being said, this book felt like it didn't have a single thing to to with the first book (and don't get me started on that one). The writing is severely overwrought in certain sections and then switches to completely purile on the very same page. The lack of cohesion and flow was very jarring. Very rarely do I give up on a book and even more infrequently do I abandon a series. But I'm throwing my hands up in defeat on this one. I also requested a refund for this book. Unfortunately, the time I spent trudging through this book cannot be returned.

Cutting My Losses With Book Two!
This has to be the stupidest main character I have ever encountered! She bumbles into every ridiculous circumstance. Book One wasn't good, but wasn't terrible. I had hoped Book Two would strengthen her character, but alas, the damsel in distress is left awaiting a well-endowed male to rescue and ravage her. Achh! I can't even imagine what drivel is in Book Three!

My broken heart, the music, all a must
This book was an absolute great accompaniment to the first. Starting were it had left off. I have never read much like this series. In the first book you are learning as Voilet does, just miniscule things about what she has forgotten. In this story though you are plunged head first into her memories.Still the world building and dark cold atmosphere is there. The music again latched onto me so I could not leave this world. Helping construct the Author's intentions and moods for the scene. I'm reeling from the story and the music is still in my blood.Goodreads Rachel Beamin said it best. I am stuck in book purgatory. Although I can still read the next installment until I do I will be unfit for anything else. The characters, their past, their arcs. Honestly I can't think of anything I didn't enjoy.Stories where two people are destined. Drawn to one another. It's relationships we as humans dream of, but also fear. A straight ticket to hell if you ask me but the ride would be incredible. I love the magic in these words. The weather changing the mood. Agnst tearing my heart apart. Even the hurt as the worthy believe in their suffering. As the past meets the present I could feel the ice and echos of sorrow as she dove into the Prince's room. The aura he has spent years building there drowning Voilet. The loneliness was all together too real. Everything surrounding him dilapidated and broken. It broke my heart. I felt too much.Shadow's Kiss was given to me for Christmas, I finished in a day. Of course who has time to wait on a shipment I bought the next on kindle. A day later I need the rest. This story has sunk it's claws in. And really the music....how did the Author do it? They were perfect. If a scene felt right and no other music was offered I would replay some of these or some from the last book. It was amazing and subversive you have to try it.Voilet's Playlist:Chapter 11: Hozier- It Will Come BackChapter 12: Lucas King- SuicideChapter 13: Lord Huron- The Yawning GraveChapter 16: Stateless- BloodstreamChapter 20: The Pretty Reckless- Going To HellMarian Hill- Got itChapter 26: X Ambassadors- Litost

TOP 3 Favorite Book Series
This entire series completely blew me away and took me by suprise. I was on the hunt for a good audible series to dive into, but I feel like Iβve read/listened to everything good at this point. Well, SURPRISE! I would love to acquire the paper/hard back physical copies at some point as well. The author will take you on a journey unlike any, I seriously have a hard time even finding a series to compare. If your on the fence, TRY IT!For reference my genre is typically, fantasy. I love anything with mystical/vampire, mystery.

???
Iβm not sure how I feel about this book. Itβs actually more of a prequel which drives me insane when authors do this. This entire book takes place before the first one. And yes it furthers the story but I wouldβve preferred to read this one first. I wish we got to see other points of views besides just Violets. For the majority of this book she comes off as naive, callous and self-centered. I had to stop reading a couple of times because I was aggravated. But Iβm glad I read on because what I had hoped was true, ended up being correct. And now Iβm confused on more points of the story so I must continue with the series.

Couldnβt stop reading
Violet has a kick butt attitude and has the skills to back it upSheβs tried to fall for Killian, he loves her and wants to protect her and make her happy, but she feels no attraction for him or anyone else. Sheβs put in a position to help her people stop the wars between the Radients and the shadows . But sheβs seeing herself being able to take out the prince of shadows and save her people, sheβs so very wrong, she faces her own demons as well as an attraction for the Dark prince that she canβt understand!

EXCELLENT
That was one hell of a story and explains so much. This is heartbreaking and gutted me. Holy smokes, I honestly am at a loss for words and don't know what to say. I just want to get to the next book because there is alot happening and I just cannot see, in any shape or form, how this is going to move forward. I'm trying to piece all this together and I'm at a loss here. Gotta keep going!!

Highly recommend
A great series! If you are a SJM fan or J. Armentrout fan then this is for you. I will start off by saying the writing in the first book is not great. It was a bit difficult to get through at times, but once you grasp the story youβre going to fall in love with this series. The second, third and fourth book all contain much better writing from the author and we can really see how the characters and plot develop. Highly recommend this! I read all these books within a day or two. I couldnβt put it down!

Shadow's Touch
Well that was heart breaking. The story of what happened before book 1 was brilliant but sad. This is a fantastic series but I'm kind of nervous to see where it goes next.

An amazing sequel. Spoilers in review!!!
I had come to realize the dark could hold things which were too fragile for the harsh exposure of light."Anotha one! (DJ Khaled voice ππ»ββοΈ)Again, this author did not disappoint! This book was so freaking good, I couldn't put it down, and believe me, I tried!! The world building in this story is on point. I'm so glad we got the back story to everything, and it really makes you appreciate the main characters in a whole different way. This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotions, one minute you're laughing at Violets outbursts and in the next chapter your heart is breaking for the dark prince.Violet is such a strong character, and I love the fact that she was written in a really well rounded way. She was a tad bit on the hot headed side π but that's part of her charm to me. She was relatable in all aspects of life. I also love how much she swears πThe dark prince... I'm going to say it, from the beginning - CALLED IT!!!!!ππ»ββ You'll know what I'm talking about later if you haven't read the book. I really liked getting to know him better. He's such a complex character, and we haven't even scratched the surface as to who he really is and what he has been through, so I'm looking forward to the character progression with him!Belcaris - That chick is a riot. She is hilarious with a dash of bitchy, and I was here for it. Her over use of the word "gurl" did make me want to hit her though.Maxim - Meh, π€·π»ββοΈ I don't trust him. I may be wrong, but I think he is a snake in the grass and I'm not here for it. He is a hilarious drunk, but I think the author wrote him so agreeable in that scene that we would like him, just so he could screw us over later on and we wouldn't see it coming. Dirty, I tell you.The Contessa - I'm really wondering what her whole deal is here. She seems like a scorned woman who is causing a war between 2 races to see her plans come to fruition. The Croon has her moments, I like her grumpy old ways. Violet trying to interact with her is hilarious. I feel like there is more to her, it starts with an M, but I won't say more than that π€

Great read! And interesting contrasts
Very well written with almost visual descriptions. Characters have depth and parallel the light and dark contrasts. Must read whole series.
