Looking for a NIST certified accurate thermometer at an affordable price? Look no further. For less than $40, you get a laboratory grade digital thermometer that gives you more than accurate indoor temperatures. It comes with an outdoor temperature probe with a 10 foot wire that plugs into the right side of the thermometer. An EXT/OUT switch on the back of the unit lets you select whether the display reports indoors or outside temperatures. Another switch there lets you choose C or F. The Amazon item description states this thermometer comes with a probe in a bottle with magnets to position the probe on metal surfaces. However, that seems to be an error. There is no bottle or magnets, although there is a small piece of velcro tape provided with which you may attach the outside temperature probe to a surface outside. The thermometer's display shows the current reading, upgraded every 10 seconds, along with Minimum and Maximum readings that are maintained until you separately reset them. An audible alarm for either max or min extreme can also be set.A signed, dated certificate of accuracy with the serial number of your unit is included. Depending on your special needs andoperating conditions, Thermco states that you may wish to return the unit to them annually to have its accuracy reverified, presumably for an additional cost. Switchable to fahrenheit mode, which I appreciate! I needed to replace a cheap Hi/Lo/Current thermometer, and this one does the job, much more accurately, and at a reasonable price. I like the large display too.

I use this thermometer to record the high and low temperatures in our shop where we store seed. The device works great. I like the large-size screen. It is easy to reset the high/low values.
