Don't be like me and wait to slip and break your ankle (or worse!) before you invest in these. After it happened to me, a friend recounted that he almost slipped on our stairs as well. I shivered at the thought of liability. We have a very contemporary house with beautiful matte finish (slippery!) wooden floors and stairs. Our concern was that any non-slip product would look horrible and obscure the hardwood. These were the only product I found that provide the added safety without ruining aesthetics. Applying these was easy. Time will tell how well they hold up and I will update the review accordingly. I just ordered another set for our basement stairs.

We moved into a beautiful home with a nice, big basement. With three kids I found myself trekking between the three floors of the house frequently to switch laundry. Well, twice I did a full slip on ice routine on the painted basement stairs. The second time I saw my life flash before my eyes as I realized how slippery these dang stairs are and also that there is no handrail the first three feet down. Told the partner that he was in charge of laundry until he could come up with a way to un-death-trap-ify the basement stairs. Three days later I had these puppies on my stairs and I haven't tried to break my butt since. Thanks!

After doing a lot of online research-- and some in store searching-- I bought these treads and am so happy that I did. I only wish I found them sooner. It's absolutely critical for us to have safe stairs as we have a newborn and am carrying him up and down the stairs many times a day. He's also about to start crawling and eventually stair climbing.The treads are so great -- and very subtle-- that I finally convinced my mom to let me put them on her stairs.Very helpful that the company includes a roller tool and important to me that the materials are PVC free- making it a more expensive material.

When moving into our new home a friend of ours slipped down the stairs while helping us move in. Luckily he wasn't hurt, but thats when we realized how slippery our staircase was even when remotely wet. These strips installed in like 30 minutes and now I feel very safe going down the stairs even when they're wet.They look decent as well, at least when they're clean. If they get dusty from drilling holes in your drywall or something, its hard to clean them, but its still pretty minor. Would definitely recommend these as a cheap solution to a slippery staircase.

After watching the installation video on YouTube, I was more prepared to install these on my hardwood stairs. It did not take long at all, and if I misplaced the grips or they didn't quite line up with my tape alignment, I was able to carefully put it up and place them where needed. They do start out like sandpaper, but after having them down for about a week, we have the added security without my kids ruining their socks. The biggest deal for me is that our old, slightly chubby boxer is able to go up and down the stairs securely with these now. We just sweep them clean to clean the stairs and I hand dust the wood around the grips. I live in a split foyer so I feel like we have less steps than most, so the more effort is worth having the security on the stairs.

when we bought our house, the stairs had small, rug treads on them. With lots of use - including a dog that likes to launch himself off the 2nd to last step, these didn't last long. We replaced them earlier this year with these clear, treads. They have been working great for us! We have lots of people - young and old - going up and down the steps and this gives plenty of traction for everyone. We will probably add these to some wooden steps going from our garage into the house. I definitely recommend them!

Bought these for my mom's house to ensure that she doesn't eat you know what on the stairs. We are both pleasantly surprised and how they look, you can't really tell they are there. Hopefully they hold up. Stuff attaches to it sometimes (dog hair) and can be a little hard to vacuum off, but not a big deal. Will update in the future.

They responded to my email right away and sent one in the mail that day without charge.If you are looking to make your stairs safe, this is definitely the way to go!
