Stokes SelectMini Mesh Screen Bird Feeder with Metal Roof, Green, 1.2 lb Seed Capacity

This is a well constructed feeder, good size and should last many seasons.I put this feeder out at an established bird feeder station and soon noticed the seed was not diminishing, I.e., the birds were not using this feeder. Investigating I found the wire grid was too small for the bird seed. I use a quality black oil sun flower seed and the birds really struggle to remove a seed from the feeder.Simple solution: carefully cut the feeder’s wire mesh with a pair of wire cutters (side cutters) and make larger openings at about 10 locations around the bird feeder. Now this feeder is a preferred feeder and is empty in two or three days.

I have had this feeder for about 10 years, and just purchased another. At this point the old one is just slightly sun bleached and bent, but has held up very well for that amount of time. The mesh is the right size for whole sunflower seeds, and the birds have had no problem getting them out. In fact the birds are eating me out of house and home! I was very happy to be able to find the same feeder.

Wanted to like this but it came defective. Can’t slide the tube into the grooves. Will try again. well ordered a 2nd one. again the grooves are bent just enough to not allow tube to slide all the way in.. Half way in then it's impossible to twist it back open. Good grief.

I have several feeders similar in style to this one. I liked the larger screen gauge on this one. Arrived with the bottom plate manufacturing error, where the notches you slide the feeder through to secure bottom not the right size for the screen tabs. I was able to modify this with some needle nose pliers, and get the feeder hung. Disappointed to find this feeder on the ground EVERY day when I get home. And not from the bottom I modified, the top unscrews from the canister much too easily, leaving my feed all over the ground with one squirrel visit. Gave up on this one. Not the quality I have known otherwise with Stokes.

I have bought 3 of these feeders. Two I use for sunflower seeds and one I use for peanuts.I discovered that if I wrap something around the feeder when I fill it, (I use a transparent page I got somewhere) then the sunflower seeds will not fall out as I fill it. They are fine once they are in there and do not just simply fall through. I even dropped a full feeder once and only a few sunflower seeds fell through.I absolutely love this feeder.

This bird feeder is great for holding black sunflower seeds. The metal mesh is not very sturdy an easily bendable. Mine arrived a little dented but I was able to fix it. I paid $16 for it and I believe it is overpriced because of the flimsy quality of the mesh but I like it so far.

This is my second Mini Mesh Screen Bird Feeder, and the birds love it. I use sunflower hearts in the feeder, and usually finches, nuthatches, sparrows, chickadees, and small woodpeckers are enjoying the hearts. Some hearts do fall to the ground, but the squirrels and ground feeder birds are very happy to clean up.

I bought new ones to back up some that I have had for years. My old ones are well used.
