Kinda OK
I was able to put this book down and walk away a couple of times, it didn’t capture me in a way that I could not put down.I did like that I could relate to the feelings Jarrett had throughout the book, especially his nervousness with Caprice and acceptance of EnnisHowever I feel like the end of the book left a lot of things unresolved. Several things were implied, but never told outright and as a children’s book I think this could be difficult for kids to pick up on.

Alert! alert! alert! MUST READ
Kinda Like Brothers by Coe Booth was a very invigorating book about two kids Jarrett Crawford and Kevon Underwood having to get use to doing everything together. This was hard for Jarrett because when his mom took in a new foster baby he had to deal with Kevon as well. This book makes me feel like I’m grateful to be in a situation where I don’t have to worry about spying on a foster kid to know about his past.

He said he feels like this kid could be him
My young black son read this book and loved it! He said he felt like he could relate to this character and that doesn't happen for him often.. I was so glad that I got this book for him!

is enjoyed this book
Another book I read, after my son, for his battle of the books. This is another one I really enjoyed. It pulls at your heart in different ways. One for the kids in foster and the other string for the main character whose mother fosters lots of kids. I liked how the author gave you an insight into how fostering kids affected Jarrett. It’s a perspective you don’t often hear about. But, it also gives you a glimpse of Kevin’s feelings as well. I enjoyed this book, some of it may be a little deep for my 3rd grader. But I’m glad I read it so we can have some great discussions.

Brothefs
I wish there was. More to it.. I hope there is a sexual. There are so many questions left unanswered. It was a really good book though. Great coming of age story for middle schoolers

Five Stars
Very good story. A viewpoint about foster care from the kids' point of view.
