Terrified of speaking in public
I was terrified... I mean seriously *terrified* to speak in front of people. When *imagining* getting up in front of a group of people, my heart would start pounding in my chest. My entire body would literally tremble. It would feel like I had something caught in my throat. And that was just from imagining myself speaking in front of people.Well, every two weeks, the company I work for holds this company-wide meeting. People get up and talk about things like what they've been working on, results, etc. And for over three years I've avoided going up there. Are you kidding? Speak in front of the entire company? Um... No thank you. Not happening.Don't get me wrong. I *wanted* to get up there and speak. I had a lot that I wanted to say. And speaking to the company was important for my career. In fact, I really wanted to overcome my fear of public speaking because I knew that, if I could just get over this fear and develop the confidence to comfortably speak in front of audiences, I could take my career so much further. It would open up a whole new world of opportunity for me. I could speak at conferences, make a name for myself in the industry, etc.But I just didn't have the courage. I felt like if I even just spoke in front of a small group at work I would only manage to humiliate myself, end up hurting my career, and feel even worse about myself than I already did.So, I looked for help. Originally, I looked at The Shyness and Social Anxiety Workbook. I read it. But for some reason, it didn't really help me to work up the courage to put myself out there. Maybe because the book felt too cold and "clinical". Maybe because, as I would later discover, it failed to address some critical elements of my social anxiety.Anyway, somehow, I found Dr. Aziz. Here was a guy who'd done it; a guy who'd suffered from debilitating social anxiety, just like me, and overcome it.Like The Shyness and Social Anxiety Workbook, Dr. Aziz teaches that you need to go out there and begin to do those things that terrify you, starting small, getting comfortable with things that only give you a small amount of anxiety, and progressively working your way up until, for example, you're comfortable speaking in front of perhaps even thousands of people. However, there are two things that differentiate Dr. Aziz's method from The Shyness and Social Anxiety Workbook. First of all, Dr. Aziz teaches several principles that seem to be entirely absent from CBT; things like self-compassion and becoming comfortable with rejection. Secondly, it feels like there's a human being on the other end who actually cares. And this was surprisingly important to me; to feel like I wasn't alone in this.Anyway, I've been applying Dr. Aziz's method. And here's the proof that his method works. A couple weeks ago, I volunteered to speak in front of the entire company at the company-wide bi-weekly meeting. Now, normally this is just an internal meeting. But literally the day before the meeting, they came up to me and said that they wanted me to prepare what I was going to say in such a way that they could *film it* and *distribute it* to existing and potential clients.Seriously? As if just speaking in front of the company wasn't stressful enough for me! Now you're going to record me speaking in front of the entire company AND you want to send the recording of me out to literally thousands of people!Well, the next morning, they called me down to speak. And... well... I knocked it out of the park. I felt way more comfortable and relaxed than I could have ever hoped. And when I'd finished, the son of the founder of the company was so moved that he yelled, "Boom!"I'm not gonna lie. It felt really good to have faced that fear and to have overcome it. Now, I guess it's on to the next level for me.

Disappointing
I was excited to read this book and went into it with no expectations, only to be disappointed and stop reading it about halfway through. While the author has some insightful content to share, the author's writing is a significant detraction from the overall quality of the book. The book is filled with typos and grammatical errors. Additionally, the author's use of explicit language extends beyond his intended purpose, which he expressly mentioned early in the book. Lastly, the author's continued plugs/pitches of his confidence seminars make the book feel more like an elaborate marketing tool than a potentially life-changing self-help book. Aziz didn't do himself any favors on this one (although the concept was fantastic).

Unnecessary Explicit Language, Personal Plugs, and More
First, I will say there is some good information in this book. Having said that, it can be found in many other books that were quoted or used in this one. However, that is the extent of my praise. This is the first book that I sent to the thrift store after reading it.What I don't like is the following:Aziz continually tells the reader that he is well known internationally as a confidence expert. Having read dozens of books and having a personal library of more than five hundred currently, I can say that his name was never known to me until I found it here on Amazon. He mentions Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, and even Steven Chandler. Yes, they are, but Aziz still needs to "earn is stripes" over time before he can call himself famous. He uses explicit language continually and unnecessarily. He warns the reader at the beginning, but for me it was already too late. I had purchased this book and another by him. (I have no plans to purchase the third one). He says he will only use it occasionally for shock purposes. However, he uses the F word constantly along with dam and h*ll and sh*t so often that it detracts from the message. I struggled my way through the book. Since I plan to keep these for my sons, I cannot pass this one along as I never use such language and cannot promote a book that does. None of the other self-help authors on my shelf find the need to use such language for "shock value."At the beginning Aziz discusses his beautiful wife and family. I looked her up, and she is beautiful. I was happy for him in finding his true love. But about two thirds of the way through the book as he tells the reader to be bold in what he wants, I found out something that totally stopped me in my tracks. Not only does Aziz promote being bold, but he promotes telling a MARRIED woman how much one wants her and admires her "hot as*" (his words). He tells the reader to go up to that beautiful woman and tell her how he feels. It doesn't matter if she is married or not. She can only say no, and then you are no worse off than before.Yes, Aziz even admits that he knew Candace was married when he decided to tell her that she was so sexy that he wanted her and desired her. He mentions being afraid of the husband even. Of course for Aziz, it all turned out well. Here is the thing. After almost 30 years of marriage, I can say that there have been a couple of times that our marriage was struggling. If during that time, a man had approached my wife or a woman had approached me with such a proposal, then maybe our lives would have been different or even ended. Thankfully, no one did, and we have continued on together stronger for our struggles. No matter how bold one wants to be, one must respect the marriage vows of another. Oh, if Candace had split from her husband and then decided to divorce him, then Aziz would have been totally okay in telling his thoughts to Candace. But he did not wait and most certainly had a hand in splitting up the marriage. So, what I didn't like is the language, the attitude and the morality of the author. The content can be found in other books written by authors who were able to use respectable language (also with force), and who did not need to blow their own horn as the reader would learn to respect them after reading their books, and who did not promote adultery as an okay way to get what one wants.Just an opinion but with a basis.

Practical steps on how to achieve sucess
If someone were wanting to achieve their dreams in life, this would be a very valuable book to read. The book starts off with explaining that achieving your biggest dreams are possible, if you are to do two things: "1. Be willing to do whatever it takes. 2. Do whatever it takes." The book then outlines on how to do just that. It explains how to get over what blocks you from action, by explaining what it means to take an ownership stance to life instead of a victim stance, how to overcome the stories we tell ourselves, and how to resolve fear. Next, it talks about how to take action. Not only does the book show you what is possible, but it explains very practical solutions on how to achieve your dreams. I found that the book taught what it means to take responsibility very well. It has already helped me really see how I am in control of my life. The ways that it lists on how to take action are also great, because it really explains practical ways on how to achieve things. I really think this book shows how to take practical steps to achieve success.

Great Read!
This book is really helping me understand my issues and how best I can work through them, I haven't finished the book yet but I've already gained so much, What I have always liked about Dr Aziz is he explains concepts so clearly and in a very relatable way, when looking to take help and advice from others one thing that is very important to me, would be is this person talking from a place of personal experience and with Dr Aziz I can tell he has been through a very similar struggle to my own.

Disappointing
After reading the through the sample I was excited to learn and put my newfound knowledge to the test. I ended up putting the book down before getting a quarter of the way through as the knowledge felt basic and unhelpful.
