Beware UAE customers
Beware UAE shoppers, Arlo doesn’t support cloud services in the UAE yet. So this camera will be for live stream only, unless you buy the hub and attached a USB stick to it.Video and audio (2 ways) are good

At present not as good as we hoped for!!
This could be an unfair review but I have to say it as it is!! Just for information we have 5 external Arlo outdoor camera's which are performing really well and have no issues with those. However from day one of setting up our Arlo indoor camera, it has been troublesome. I researched the issues that I was having, flickering screen when looking at live pictures tried adjusting the flicker rate but no difference. It appeared to be when trying to watch live view at night to make sure the dog was ok. Obviously it was useless and couldn't see a thing. I checked by turning off each appliance one by one to see if it was interference but still no joy. There were no lights on so it shouldn't have been caused by lightning etc?I have now moved the camera to a different location making sure there are no I.R reflections. The other problem is it takes ages to connect when clicking on live view?If these issues are still ongoing , I will send it back for a refund. Its not a cheap camera, in fact at £120 it's expensive for what it is but I didn't expect these issues especially as my outdoor camera's are working perfectly and have done so from day one.So at this point in time , I'm really disappointed with it. I will update this review if the issues are cleared up from what I've done so far. I'll give it another few days if the camera continues to be troublesome it will be going back to the retailer.Positives are when it is working correctly the clarity of the picture is excellent.I have only rated it as 2 stars for now but if the problems are cleared up, I will relook at it.Update to this review 2 days later. A little better but this camera is highly sensitive to IR reflection. The flicker problem I think was caused by the top of an open internal door. The camera was originally on top of a cupboard and I think it was too close to the open door. Since I moved the camera and mounted it directly to the wall that problem has disappeared. However the flickering is back in the morning when there is a transition from night to day. I don't think it affects the recordings but it's annoying if you want to look at a live view, so I have to turn off the I R mode. Of all the other makes of indoor cameras I've had this is the only one that has caused issues. Its such a shame as I never expected this from Arlo. I'm 50/50 whether to send it back but because all my camera's are Arlo I wanted them all on one app?Another issue that's just appeared intermittently is the picture turns a shade of green in the daylight, so I'm going to have to look that up to see what's going on.Did not expect these issues but I have upgraded from 2 stars to 3 ??

Plug & Play
It’s not the best quality camera these days but it’s a budget one that works over WiFi. It’s great for checking in on pets.

A good addition to the Arlo Range - but difficultly setting up.
I have been a fan of Arlo cameras for a number of years and recently upgraded my wireless outdoor cameras. As usual with Arlo the set up worked perfectly and I have been very pleased with them. I decided to also upgrade two indoor, wired cameras to the new 'Essential' version...but ran into significant issues trying to set them up.The cameras come with VERY brief instructions - the set up process is carried out through the Arlo app on smartphone. I set several hours trying to get this to work without success. I lost count of the number of times I restored the cameras to factory settings and tried again. It was very frustrating. I decided to consult the internet and search for possible solutions, and eventually (in the online detailed manual for the cameras which is not easy to find) I realised what the problem was. Most home wifi networks operate on two frequencies 2.4 and 5GHz, and many smartphones automatically select 5GHz. However the Arlo Indoor Essential camera only operates on 2.4 GHz and, to enable you to set it up, your mobile device has to be working on the same frequency. Its actually quite difficult to force a smartphone to select one particular frequency (certainly on the latest iPhone this selection process is done automatically with no user override). The only other solution is to go into the settings of your wireless router and temporarily disable the 5GHz network. This whole process seemed far to complicated and fraught with problems. So, sadly, I gave up and have returned the cameras. I think there should be a mention of this issue in the description on retailer websites, and the 'Quick Start Up Guide' should also mention this along with detailed instructions for someone without detailed technical knowledge of wifi networks. A much better solution would be to improveme the design of these indoor cameras to allow them to operate on both frequencies.
