Grape Leaves Dolmadakia 32oz

Great quality leaves, I highly recommend them
My sister-in-law's family rolls traditional Syrian style stuffed grape leaves (so tasty!) but we could never really find good store bought leaves. The more available brands, such as Krinos, were all a bust. The leaves inside were mostly shredded and had holes every other leaf. There aren't many middle Eastern markets or products where we live, so we turned to Amazon to find a better product. This one didn't have a lot of reviews, but it seemed like an authentic product so we purchased it. This product blew Krinos out of the water! The quality of leaves were far superior. Some were a little tough, but I overlooked it seeing as most of the leaves were very good and hardly any holes.I'd highly recommend this product if you're rolling any style of grape leaf.

Home Made Dolmades
Loved the product. I had a favorite Greek restarting Birmingham, Al that makes the best dolmades with lamb. I could not find a place like that in the ATL so I decided to make it myself. They came out great. The grape leaves held up well

Great quality, tough to remove bracket
Consistent sizes make it easy to roll a batch of dolmas. Very few were broken or misshapen, which made it difficult to decide which ones to use for the pan layers :)My only complaint is that I had a really difficult time removing the plastic bracket that they place inside the top of the jar, and it was very difficult to remove the first roll. Also, the jar doesn't specify whether or not to refrigerate after opening, so I didn't because I thought it might ruin the leftover leaves, but it smelled rancid after a week so I must have assumed wrong.

Bandaid wrapper in jar? DON'T BUY!
Found what looks to be the end of a bandaid wrapper in my leaves. Seriously? Straight to trash. Dont waste your money, it could cost you more than just the price of the jar. For those who are willing to risk.. almost all leaves had holes and many looked diseased. Including one with black spots. A jar of total gross.

Not so tender
The flavor was good. The leaves had hard veins that you have to pull them out while chewing. Not soft and tender the way I would like it to be. I will try a different brand next time.

Awesome!
I have been making Cypriot Koupepia forever. I have used a half dozen different brands, and these are on par with the rest. As with all others, roughly 95% big leaves; 4% medium; and the oddball 1% small and 1% huge - very typical. Standard brine; crunchy/crisp; and stayed together with that tough but tender texture combo connoisseurs recognize, even after an hour in a pressure cooker (I usually cook them in a lasagna tray in the oven but I wanted to test these since I never used the brand before). The brine is minimal to cover the leaves which were three bundles packed tight with no room to slosh around - so they're not cheating that big jar out of any leaves that could be otherwise packed in. I'm very happy I have found what I hope will be a reliable consistent source, since I can't get these locally anymore - a few supermarket chains used to carry Mazzeta brand, but no longer. Finally, the jar was bubble wrapped and packed box in a box, so it survived the notoriously damage prone journey to Hawaii - though Amazon all but avoids this with their UPS shipping - compared to USPS.
