Fantastic for working dog
The hands free option is fantastic, as I can walk without constriction. The ability to adjust length of leash is so convenient, quick and easy. Helpful for when I need my service dog reliably close by in tight quarters (on the shuttle train at airport) or extended all the way out for leisure walks. Ability to adjust waist/belt is fantastic too, for when I need it cinched tight for dress clothes OR much looser to fit on the outside of my long winter coat. Construction is top of the line. The lobster claw attachment especially brings peace of mind (not available on the smaller one - so be sure to double check). I've had the other kind (slide down to open) pop off the dog when he "shakes it out" and snap back to hit me in the face. This product has been a life saver & I just ordered another one to loop my other pup on existing belt. I've been spoiled to adjustability and won't go back to "normal" leashes that take up one hand and are not nearly as convenient. Price is right too - AND MADE IN THE USA.

Dog Trainer/Puppy Class Instructor - LOVE this system!
This is a fantastic system to use when training crazy young puppies and dogs! It keeps your dog safely attached to you, leaving both of your hands free to Click your clicker, give hand signals, and treat your dog! This product feels very sturdy and well made. The leash material is very thick and feels like it will stand up well to prolonged use. All of the buckles and the leash clasp feel sturdy as well. The leash clasp can unbuckle from the leash itself (as you can see in the stock photo) so you can let your dog roam or swim, and then hook them back up after. The leash section itself can also unbuckle, allowing you to use it just like a normal leash and is adjustable from 22" - 40".As a group dog class instructor, this has become an invaluable tool for me. I can hook my demo dog to me, and gesture with my hands while giving demonstrations, without one of my hands being tied up holding a leash.I also recommend this product to clients that are having trouble with leash pulling, as it helps prevent you from allowing your dog to pull your arm in different directions. You're strongest at your trunk (around hips, waist) so it gives you better control of a pulling dog and they are less likely to pull you over, though I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with lower back issues.I also love this for hiking trips when my dog can't be off leash because I can adjust how much leash to give him and it's almost like he is off leash, but I still have 2 hands free to take photos. I haven't bought any of the accessory leashes, but I'm seriously considering the bungee leash for hikes as well.I would definitely buy this product again and recommend it to all of my dog training clients.

Works great for us!
I have a service dog & the Buddy System allows me to be hands free but still have my dog right next to me. I love that the length is adjustable because I have a smaller dog & have it adjusted to the shortest length & it gives my dog just enough length to move freely without getting too far from my side. I could use it going a little shorter still, but it works well enough for us. The attachment loop that is worn around the waist belt moves freely which means the dog can potentially walk circles around you while being attached, which can be a bit of a challenge, especially if you don't have a dog that is well trained to heel. I've also nearly lost the loop part a couple times because it easily slides off the belt when you're putting it on, but so far so good. Just a heads-up if you have a chewer, this leash wouldn't hold up well if it were to be chewed on, but for our purposes, we love it!

What a great way to control your dog!
I have a Border Collie I run with often. Having a waist leash is way better than holding a leash. You are very stable at your waist and it takes a lot of force from your dog for you to even notice when she's pulling. If you are holding the leash in your hand any little pull by your dog is going to affect you, especially if you are running. Now when I run or am just in a busy place place with my dog it is way more enjoyable. You don't have to remember to hold on to a leash when doing anything and this one is very good at not tangling if your dog switches sides. My dog isn't much of a puller (unless we are running, then he pretends he's a sled dog) but I got the lunge buster attachment and really like that. Makes any movement at all more natural for you or the dog because it gently stretches instead of jerking.I've used this for several months and have already lost both those little loop/clasp things that attach both ends of the leash to the belt. I get by without it though by just hooking the dog end of the leash to the belt instead of the using the clasp. For the other end that I lost I just run my belt through the slack-loop of the leash before I put it on. No big deal, works as well as when I had the clasps. It's a very simple, lightweight, and seems to be very durable. Even if it broke I'd probably buy another, it just 'feels' right. It's been through about 50 running miles, a few birthday parties, hikes, walks and a renaissance fair with flying colors!

a shoulder saver!
We hike a lot with our 70LB pit mix and when he has to be kept on a short leash it can start to bother my shoulder. This set up allows us to follow leash rules when hiking and takes the stress away from my shoulder and frees up my hands- Its a really nice option!

Awesome, free hands for treats, flashlight, etc
This works great, helps train to stop pulling, allows hands free, easier on your shoulders!

Perfect for smaller dogs
I originally bought a different brand, but the leash was way too heavy for my dog to lug around.I bought the retractable leash and belt version of this. It's more than double the cost of the other ones out there but not having to deal with the leash tangling up in my or my dog's legs and also having it light enough for him is worth the cost.Belt and leash are light enough to not bog down my dog or bulk up my waist. The loop the leash hooks onto the belt glides around smoothly so I rarely have to twist my belt to the side my dog decided to go on, like I did for other brands.I was concerned the retractable part wouldn't be very sturdy or it would hurt my dog if he pulled too hard. It hasn't broken yet and he has jerked the leash a few times when he sees squirrels. One thing that is slightly annoying is the loop+D ring (for storing the leash) kept falling off when I'd hang the belt and leash up after a walk. I remedied this by attaching the poopbag holder to it so it's now too big to slip off. It's easy to adjust the belt size if you need to for different size coats etc.A negative is the retractable plastic part of the leash sometimes conks my dog in the head when he gets excited and is boinging all over the place. That's not really the leashes fault though.I recommend it if you have a small dog, or a dog that will not pull super hard.

Great for hands-free
Had a buddy leash years ago. Now that I'm back on it, I now remember how useful this is. At first I thought this was a short leash, so I ordered the extender after a few days. But you know what? The original product is just fine - your dog will get used to it.However, yesterday I saw the same product offered for almost 30% less, so that's not cool. Good thing I love the product...
