Smithsonian Prehistoric Sea Monsters Triops Eggs Kit

Eggs never hatched. Don’t recommend.

I bought this because the tank is perfect for a field photography tank for small fish and invertebrates. I haven't hatched the shrimp out yet, I will be doing that some time soon in another container just for the fun of it.

The product I great... shipping on the other hand not so much. I got this asite a gift and when I received it... it came unboxed and the 2 shipping lapels plastered to the product. Super tacky. I spent almost 10 min trying to peel the labels off!

Followed instructions and used half of the eggs for the first round with no results. Same thing happen for the second batch of eggs. The eggs also come in a pouch with dirt and small pieces of wood chips and they stick to the sides, float on top, and some sink to the bottom of the container making it unpleasant to look at.

I ordered this in June to use as a science project. Set-up was easy and our Triops eggs did hatch within about 2 days. But. I followed feeding instructions, and I'm fairly certain that wasn't enough food to keep everybody competitive. By Day 5, there was one comparatively monstrous Triops... I'm pretty sure it consumed its tankmates. It lived for 3 weeks and then died (I was impressed). We used about half the egg/moss packet. At one point I counted 25 hatchlings; I had to use a flashlight at the side of the tank to be able to see them. I keep promising that we'll start over with as little as I can dump from the packet, and feed the poor things more often than the instructions suggest. I'm trying to attach two Boomerang videos - one is of the teensy white specks on Day Two and the other is of the sci-fi-remniscent creature scratching for food. It looks like only one is sticking, but I can't tell which.

this was fanastic and a lot of fun. I never though they would actually grow and live! We ended up with one very large one that has been living for 2 months and still going!

I was so excited to give this to my son as a Christmas gift...we followed the directions to a T and nothing happened. We tried the second half of the eggs, and again...nothing happened.

best thing you can do if you love science. Dont just grow the amazing creatures, research the amazing science behind how this happens and then think of the possibilities as we progress through space!

"los huevos" vienen en una bolsita con tierra y maderitas, desde la primera impresión no se ve ni un huevo, sé que son minúsculos, pero ya eh tenido triops y con lupa llegan a verse pero este no era el caso... Quise darle el beneficio de la duda y puse la primera mitad del sobrecito como indica, esperamos 2 días y nada, de todos modos reserve esa agua en un frasco, y pusimos la otra mitad y de nuevo todo el proceso, hasta con medición de temperatura para que no bajara o subiera mucho siguiendo indicaciones de muchas otras páginas y videos para ayudar a la eclosión y nada... Llevando ya 3 días del segundo y 5 del primero. Imagino es una ruleta rusa que en la pizca de tierra que te mandan lleguen a haber huevos...
