Lovely addition to your table
I purchased this as I was looking for something similar to what Alton Brown uses on his show, "Good Eats" for kosher salt. This is fairly close. I was looking for something a little more ornate/substantive, but for this price felt I needed to try it. I am surprised at how nice it is. The only thing that is a bit of a con is the spoon is/looks/feels very cheap. At some point I will see if I can find a replacement. Still, a good value and I recommend - for salt, condiments, jams/jellies. etc.!!

Highly Recommended!
I love my condiment holder or as I call it my salt dish. It is attractive to look at and with its long handle is so easy to hold. It comes with a spoon and a hole to put the spoon's handle through and a lid with a metal piece that opens with the flick of a thumb. I buy Real Salt which hasn't been processed at high temperatures and has a grayish color with mineral flecks in it, which can tend to be sticky in the salt shaker, but not in the salt holder. I have given the dish as gifts, with those receiving it exclaiming over the gift and liking it as much as my husband and I do. Having written a book on a simple lifestyle, I have tried to declutter my home and life in general. I very much adhere to idea that we should let the practical be pretty. This salt dish is both practical and pretty.

Good for use as salt cellar
Like others here, I got this to use as a salt cellar à la Alton Brown. It does this job nicely and I like the flip top lid.I only wish that this was available without the slot in the lid where the spoon goes so that it keeps out moisture better.

Just Like Alton Brown's Salt Cellar
I was hunting around for a version of Alton Brown's salt holder, since it is no longer sold on his website - this is it! It does come with a spoon, and there is a small gap for the spoon to fit through the lid. So if you remove the spoon, there will always be a little gap there. But it doesn't really matter - it's salt! What's going to happen to it because there's a little gap? Nothing! So buy this for your salt cellar! For the record though, the thing is much bigger than I thought it would be, so check the dimensions if that's important to you. Even if it's a little bulky, it's not very heavy (at least, when filled with salt). The handle is convenient to hold, and you can flip your thumb over to open the lid quite easily.

Pretty nice
I have to say this looks nicer in the photo than it does in person. The stainless steel is rather thin, and overall it feels rather flimsy. It's not bad enough to send back, but I wouldn't buy another.

Great for Sugar
Great for grated cheese or sugar. I use it as a sugar bowl. Looks great in the kitchen next to the coffee maker. Nice quality for the price.

Awesome
I bought this for my father for fathers day, because he loves the show Good Eats, and has wanted one for a while. After looking for a while, I decided on this one. He loves it.The handle makes it easy to hold and flip open. The only thing is that he spoon makes it difficult to close sometimes, and you have to adjust it to close the lid completely. All in all, money well spent.
