A gem of a book showcasing food with multi-culti origins
A beautifully produced book with exceptional photography of both Sicily and the finished dishes. Sicily has been occupied by Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans and the Spanish and traces remain in their food. This includes fruit and warm spices in savory dishes. There is enough in this book, that differs from Italian standards, to make this book intriguing. The recipes are precise and economical in length; a recipes fits on a page, there are no five to six page recipes here. This should not worry even a novice cook as the author tells you everything you need to know. She has an extensive history of teaching Italian cooking in Italy, the UK and the USA.I have not yet cooked from this book but have seen enough cookbooks to tell these recipes will work. What does stand out is that this food would be the darling of any nutritionist. It is the personification of mediterranean food. Sicilians rarely use butter and cream as olive oil is the first choice in recipes. Seafood and salads feature extensively and meat is used in moderate amounts. All the recipes give UK and USA measurements together with centigrade and fahrenheit oven temperatures.

ok
Les recettes ne sont pas extraordinaires. Les photos sont des photos de banques de données internet... bof

Molto bene!
I’ve tried a few recipes so far and they’ve all been great. My one complaint is that there are a lot fewer fish dishes than I would have expected from a Sicilian cookbook
