If you are considering this product, I beg you to consider any other product other than this one. This is the worst product I’ve ever bought and the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I bought and installed the product to replace a broken 40 Gal residential unit. The installation manual for this product was practically useless but fortunately the install is pretty simple and straight forward as most of these units are. I got the unit installed and operating in about 4 - 5 total hours when done. The unit requires no calibration and seems to be working perfectly for about a week. On the second week the unit wouldn’t even turn on when you demanded hot water. I would have to turn off and turn on the faucet several times before the unit would spring to life. Progressively it got worse to the point where it only turns on 20% of the time when hot water is demanded. I checked the gas pressure and all the existing connections, they were all perfect. I began to suspect the unit was faulty. I contacted the company by going to the website. There is a phone number listed on their site that is never manned by a human. It goes directly to voicemail and ask you to leave a message. Over the course of 4 days, finally someone calls me back and leaves me a message to "check the gas line the unit could be starved for gas". (The unit is not starved for gas. The unit doesn’t run at all) I then tried to use the email address posted on their site. A tech responded with exactly the same thing. I responded 30 minutes later with 3 emails all including my phone number explaining the situation with my gas specs, pipe diameter and WC. I still haven’t gotten a response either by telephone or email. I had been an engineer for McDonald Douglas aircraft for 35 years and an independent contractor for 10. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist like myself to know if something is not working correctly, a child could figure it out. But somehow this company has no answers other than to "check your gas line". Please DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY if you desire support of any kind. There are much better products out there with much better support. With this company There is NO SUPPORT at all. I can understand completely if a company inadvertently ships a defective product, but it is inexcusable is to ignore your customers when they need help.

So far so good otherwise.
Everything I got was as expected but, the gas connection for some reason I couldn't connect the gas line with standard valves from Home Depot or any local plumbing supply. I called the manufacturer and explained the problem and they promply sent me what I need. So far so good otherwise.

Never run out of hot water!
After I installed the water heater, I had two showers, a dishwasher and a washing machine all on and the showers did not run out of hot water. I had to buy reducer for connections water connections. The connection is 1/2" reducers. I added a water conditioner to help with hard water. I also added extra shutoffs to the hot and cold water just in case. So far after one month of use the family and I love it. Thank you Excel for a great product.

If you have 2-handle faucets it works fine. For 1-handle faucets it doesn't work at all
If you have 2-handle faucets it works fine. For 1-handle faucets it doesn't work at all. I now have a shower that I can't use at all.Finally got disgusted and called a plumber. Was told this was a "booster" unit that worked with a regular water heater and not intended to be a "stand alone" unit. This was verified by another plumber, so I am now having this unit replaced with a regular water heater. I do not need a "booster." Very disappointed with this unit and feel I have wasted my money and time.

I would consider this product in the future
I'm happy with how this product works and the price . They could improve on their instructions by providing one is in English.Customer service response was fairly reasonable .I did not have my invoice handy at the time I called and was sent the wrong instructions for my unit. Installation was pretty straight forward ,overall I'm happy with how this product performs .

in a best case scenario a point of use unit.
This is a review from a competitor, take it with a grain of salt and try to learn something;First, the unit is grossly over stated. 112000 BTU is barely a 3 gallons/minute unit, in a best case scenario.But.....this is not the reality. My best achievement was 2.3 gallons/minute for 70F temperature increase.Second: There is a problem with the water flow sensor. As you see from the complaints of the other buyers, unit just not turn on That is not because of "gas starvation"! What a croak! Correction: That issue is because the water flow sensor turbine tolerances are too tight and any debris (rust or piece of sand!) will freeze it. The fix: Just open the top of the unit, pull the water volume sensor out and blow it backward with air or water. Now a little "backyard plumber" trick: Before installing it back, blow thru it in the right direction, with your mouth, as strong as you can't. You will hear a long whistle which should last at list 2 -3 seconds after you stop blowing. If it does not, is not clean, is not spinning free! Clean it again.Besides those 2 issues, is a pretty good unit for a point of use environment.

Great
What i love is it is ventless.They recommend eye level but not in the bathroomI put mine in the bathroom right under the overhead outside vent.I tide into the backside of the original heater. That way if i want hoter water i can put power the the original heater. Or if i sell not a big deal to remove the tanklesd. I am getting 118 degree on high water flow 125 on low water flow.
