I felt like I had read it before
I had seen this book all over social media and it sounded like something I would really enjoy. It was ok, but I felt like I had read it before. I guessed the ending quite early on and for once I had it 100% right. I wanted to be wrong, I wanted to be surprised. It was a bit of a letdown.Rich kids in Long Island, at a Prep school. 3 years earlier one of them was murdered by her boyfriend - case closed. But now the boyfriend is claiming his innocence and reaches out to the murdered girls best friend for help. I didn't like most of the character, they were all very spoilt and entitled and had no redeeming qualities.Disappointed :-(

Okay for a one-off read
Jill Newman is part of an influential clique called The Players who are Seniors at an exclusive school in Long Island. Jill is friends (and secretly in love) with Adam, an ex-Player who is a year or two older and now at University but they still keep in touch. As part of The Players, Jill has to oversee the hazing of new initiates - an event where three years ago, Jill's best friend, Shaila Arnold, was killed. Shaila's boyfriend Graham supposedly confessed, but Graham's sister, Rachel, now has physical evidence which suggests his innocence. This was an okay read. The main character did some pretty bad things (cheating on tests, etc) and at the beginning let a lot of things slide that she shouldn't have. Jill does have a good character redemption arc though as she starts to look into what happened to Shaila. Unfortunately the guilty party is obvious from the start so there were no surprises as the story unfolded. It was okay for a one-off read.

This was ok
I decided to get this book when I found out it was being adapted into a TV show (or movie, I can't remember). The story was good and I enjoyed it but it took half way through the book for this good story line to really start. I get where the author was going but I wished it started a bit earlier when it did.
