Wearing this shoe directly out of the box you can notice that it is a cheaper dress shoe. The leather has an almost plastic like shine to it, and the chemical smell is quite significant. Treating this shoe first with a vigorous application of saddle soap followed by multiple applications of mink oil with heat make these shoes darken up and lose a bit of their plastic luster. They are also pretty stiff in the ankle and require some breaking in. The addition of mink oil will also reduce the amount of scratching that other reviewers have experienced.These shoes are definitely a pair that you don't mind getting beat up. The Cognac color is more suited to a navy suit, but darkening the leather with mink oil will make them appropriate for a lighter charcoal suit.For the price I would say they are alright if you can get them below $65. If they are full price you are better off spending a few extra dollars to get something a bit nicer.

I ordered size 10 maybe 9.5 would have been better because I have a constant inside heel squeak (so annoying that I have to walk on my toes) when I walk which has nothing to do with the outside surfaces -they are not breathable and my feet sweat a lot. I replaced the insole with carbon insole to help with the sweat and odor which somewhat helps. The tread is not good for slippery surfaces! Despite having these shoes for 6 months and wearing them almost daily, my pinky toes still hurt from the narrowness of the shoe. They have maintained their shine and still look good at least. They are a bit too dressy for jeans as well. I live in upstate NY and I don't wear these shoes outside in the winter unless I put rubber covers on them to protect the leather from the salt and to give me extra grip on those icey/snowy surfaces. So bottom line is if you want to look good these work and you will get the compliments, if you want comfort then you should look elsewhere.

I owned a brown pair of Stacy Adams similar to these before purchasing. The brown pair that I own are one of my favorite pair of shoes so I trusted the brand. When I opened the box I was very happy with these shoes. The smell of a brand new pair of leather shoes is something to cherish. In addition to a good first impression, these shoes continue to impress. I like these shoes because they are comfortable and very stylish in my opinion. A good pair of shoes are noticeable and will receive complements. The old saying goes no one ever looks at a persons shoes is incorrect. A pair of shoes can make or break an outfit. These shoes will not let you down. The shoes are will worth the price that they are asking. I do not wear these everyday to work. Instead, they are reserved for darker outfits, and when I really need to impress. Black shoes like these are capable of being worn for formal (suit and tie) and casual button down shirt and khaki's. They fill a big gap in your wardrobe if you do not own a pair of black dress shoes.

This was a great shoe for the price. Leather is obviously not of the highest quality, but the fit is good and they look rather handsome as well. I will say that due to the quality of the leather the tongues can be a bit painful when they hit the front of your ankle, but I expect this to subside once they are broken in a bit more(hopefully). Because of the rubber sole I do suggest getting a pair of shoe trees for this to alleviate the creasing between the toe cap and the laces as these babies crease fast.

My 17 year old is really hard on lesser dress shoes. Seriously how does he go through them so easily when he only wears them once a week?While I don't know how long these will last I'm really pleased by the overall look and fit of the shoe. We didn't even realize how cheap his other shoes looked until we got these. He's on the speech and debate team so looking sharp is important. He has a big ole wide foot, 14 wide and he says they fit really well. Only took one event to break in.

Good for a couple months but you’ll need to buy another pair within a year. I’ve actually bought multiple pairs because they look really nice the first few months. They do tear pretty easily. I would recommend only getting these for occasional use and not everyday use.

I have been buying this shoe both in brown and black for the last 8 years. I have owned 4 sets (brown/Black) so 8 pairs all together.Pros: They are classy looking, comfortable (takes 3 wears or so to break them in), and the shape stays intact for years.Cons: Only one really, the color and the feel of the leather isn't consistent. One time I have even received a pair that had one shoe not matching it's pair in color nor in texture.Over all you will like these shoes.

Great price, great product. 4th pair of this model. Sturdy leather, shine is permanent, requires little maintenance bar decent rub of the toe post wear. Sole is rubber, extremely high wearing. Snug fit. Wear with normal thickness socks. Compare very favourably to shoes in the $150+ bracket. Will be noticed as high quality pair and have added these as a spare pair based on experience with the first 3. Definitely buy.

These shoes looked even more amazing in person when I opened the box than they do o the website. I already bought the Dickinson cap-toe Oxford from this company and they were amazing, so I was expecting great things from this purchase. I was promptly disappointed. The length and width were fine, but top of the shoe was very tight on my toes leaving me with no wiggle room. The leather was very hard, not at all like the "no break in required" Dickinson model. I promptly returned them for a full refund. I would not recommend these shoes to anyone. Hopefully, in the future they will make this model with a softer leather. It is a shame, they are a very beautiful pair of shoes to look at.
