Sashco13043 Lexel Synthetic Rubber, 5 oz Tube, White, Voc

Really incredible caulk. I'm so glad it was recommended in an Amazon review for another product. Yes, this stuff is really thick, and it takes a lot of strength to get it out of the tube. (Try it in a cartridge with a caulk gun if your project permits it.) BUT this has got to be the best caulk: easy to smooth and tool, sets wonderfully, and stays put. To my great regret, first I tried one of the usual caulk suspects from the big-box hardware store and it was horrible: the caulk came out smoother, sure, but it was incredibly hard to smooth and as it set, it CRACKED and sank unevenly into the seam! Total nightmare. I had to scrape it all off, scrub it clean, and start over. Lexel did the trick, and now my whole bathroom is caulked beautifully.

I have become disenchanted with silicone caulks; they are flexible and mildew resistant and advertised to last 50 years! The caulk bead itself may last that long, but in my experience it does not remain stuck to its substrate for much more than a year. I have had experience with the clear version of the Lexel synthetic rubber in exterior and automotive applications and found that it was much more likely to outlast both silicone and acrylic caulks. I then tried the white version of the product and was well satisfied with its performance. I replaced the tub enclosure in our master bath over two years ago and caulked with white Lexel. It is still in good condition and remains mildew free and stuck to both the enclosure and the porcelain tub.

In the past, my go-to caulk was GE's paintable silicone sometimes referred to as XST. Lately, I started to notice yellowing and other issues that I never saw in the past. With my recent purchases, I decided to try something new. Research showed that this was the best caulk in the same realm as the XST. From a performance perspective, it does not disappoint. This stuff sticks to anything! The only downside is that it is a bit messy when tooling. If you need a more toolable, high-performance caulk, I recommend Big Stretch. Otherwise, this caulk is the best performing caulk I have ever used.

During an unusually wet spell, with storms dumping up to 6", a number of basements in our neighborhood took on water. I was lucky; just some shallow pools in the furnace room which were easily mopped. During the wet spell, I realized that certain spots between bricks in the wall appeared to be the source of the leaks. At the suggestion of a clerk in the hardware store, I applied this compound. Over a few weeks, it dried to a hard and nonporous barrier. The puddles are gone.

I've been a fan of the clear Lexel for some time. Great seal and great adhesion. I've purchased both the 5oz and 10oz tubes with no issues using them.This tube of white split at the bottom as I was using it on the first small job. The sealed seam let go.I could find no other way to address the problem except thru a review.This would be a 5 star review but the package failed.
