Easy to use and clean

Very handy and inexpensive tool to take along when you go fishing- specially if you catch scaly fish and want to clean and cook on site. I like to keep the skin on for frying fish, and this tool is very efficient in cleaning the scales out.. Note that it will spray the scales all over the place, so better to use it outdoors.

This works great for cleaning fish. I’ve been using it 2-3 times a week for about 2 months now and it’s holding up great. No rusts and pretty sharp

Does the job

My mom has had one like this for decades. I don't know if this one will hold up for as long. Scales do fly around a bit though.

I purchased this fish scaler to take on a fishing trip. It is small and light, two appealing characteristics when gear volume was a concern. The scaler does work, but not much better than a steak knife. The real issue is the handle, which is short, and with a sharp underside that is very uncomfortable to use. I found a nice piece of driftwood to fit under the handle and protect my hand from the sharp edge, but was still disappointed in the functionality of the tool. I threw this scaler away after I returned from my trip, and will plan to buy a higher quality item to replace it. Bottom line - don't waste your money on this item.

My original was 50+ yrs old. This one is a close copy of it and I like it so far..

Great product

Not sure about the one review that said this is not easy to use. That is about the furthest thing from the truth. Very easy to use. Scales will fly off the fish, very easy & quick to scale a fish. You just have to scale against the grain of the fish scales (tail to head).

I have been using this item since i am a child. It is very durable and efficient. I have use it in many types of fishes. Inexpensive and practical. The only reason to buy a fancy one is because you like to show off. This is unbreakable. Just rise it after each use.

It looked so light and the scaler teeth were placed too farther apart. So I thought.Oh, boy! Did it do the job? Rather magnificently. It's a simple tool, doesn't need special care. Just wash it and throw it in your tackle box or kitchen cabinet.
