Really fantastic for dusting PCs
I bought my ED-500PV to clean my computers, my mechanical keyboard, my friend's computer, and so on. I waffled for months before buying because of the high price tag relative to some other products on the market and a dearth of clear, objective reviews (or even detailed product information). I just cleaned two PCs and a keyboard, and I'm very pleased! It won't get that fine coating of surface dust off of fans, metal panels, PCBs, etc. For that, you'll want to use a detailing brush to dislodge the dust while blowing air at the surface with your DATAVAC. For all the important stuff - clearing out heatsink fins, for instance - it's remarkably good.I'm VERY glad I went for the variable speed model. The dial goes from off to low through high speed/power and is very nice to use; it's a shame they didn't provide more details about it in the product page. It looks awkward to use but is actually a joy. I didn't need or use max power at all; I would have been disappointed if I had bought the fixed speed version to save a few dollars, because it's so much more power than I actually need. I did almost all of my cleaning in the low to medium range.Noise was a concern based on what I had read, but honestly, it was quite tame at lower power, where I actually used it. At max power, it's noisy, but not enough to be uncomfortable (for me). It sounds like a vacuum but a bit higher-pitched.Heat was also a concern for me, based on reviews for some competing products I've seen on Amazon. The air blowing down from the seams in the body does seem to keep it cool. I used it fairly heavily over the course of maybe an hour or more, and it was absolutely never hot to the touch. The product absolutely feels like it's solidly made and crafted with care. I really think the product's own marketing sells it short.I do have two complaints, neither significant enough to reduce my rating or recommendation at all.First, in my opinion, the detailing kit's smallest sizes are almost useless (or I just don't have the right use case). They're so small that they seem to provide almost no airflow. I thought the tiny wedge would be great for a keyboard, for instance, but it was useless. Instead, I used a keycap puller and then brushed between the keys quickly while blowing with my DataVac, and then I cleaned the surface as needed by hand.Second, and more importantly, I would love an explanation for the potential carcinogen warning in the product. In particular, there was a bit of a chemical smell - maybe a lubricant - the entire time I was using the product, and I would love to know if that and the Prop 65 warning are connected. If there are potential carcinogens buried in the product for very good reasons, and I'm never going to be exposed to them under normal use, that's maybe okay, though not ideal. On the other hand, if I'm actually being exposed, that's very bad, obviously. Assuming that it's not a health hazard, I strongly recommend the ED-500PV for computer dusting, etc.!

So many ideas
Often use this to dry off tools so they don’t rust. Or anything I’ve washed outside and want dried quickly. Use to blow my hair after a trim too.

Prepare for vacuum level sounds
Works great to clean HVAC filters, bathroom vents, sweeping the patio

A decent improvement over the old one
I bought this to replace the older version that I misplaced. Overall, it's an improvement. Essentially, they took the previous model and added a speed controller. Everything else appears to be similar, if not identical, even the uncomfortable plastic handle.Pros-Don't have to buy those cans of air anymore-Powerful-Adjustable power levels-Feels well-built-Body doesn't get as hot as it did in the older model-Removable filterCons-Loud at high power levels (~90 dB)-Handle still isn't ergonomic-Expensive for what it is, especially compared to the previous version-It's mostly metal, so it is on the heavy side-Air leaks from where the two parts of the body are joined, although this might be what helps keep it cooler than the old one

Rare to see this kind of quality
Beautiful and well-made product. Head and shoulders above the rest and well worth the premium as it is made in the USA. The metal body and classic shape make it look like something your grandfather would have used. From the ultra tough power cord to the wonderfully smooth POT switch, it just oozes quality. And it has enough power to blow your hair off!

Great gift
I bought it for my son. He loves it. Power and attachments as well.

Old model may suit your needs better
Still a quality product, and the adjustment on airflow might be useful in some applications, but it seems to add more work than benefits. The previous version is the better buy unless you must have the airflow adjustment.

Died after one use
The duster worked all right on first use, but after some months in storage, does not turn on. You can hear the engine growling briefly, then nothing.Overall, the cost was 10 to 20 times the cost of canned air.
