Quite an interesting read
It's a story that combines elements of WWII maritime drama by weaving a cast of fictional characters....with a surprisingly easy blend...

A wonderful historical romance by a terrific author
I bought 'The Ocean Liner' as a lovely treat for holiday but of course when it arrived with its gorgeous cover, I couldn't wait. This novel takes us aboard the SS Manhattan during WW2 as she crosses the Atlantic with a cast of real characters among the fictitious. Of course danger, mystery and intrigue abound during the voyage, not just deckside but down in the depths too, as they are followed by a Nazi U boat! A wonderful historical romance by a terrific author, who writes beautifully. A must read!

Ocean Liner
I really enjoy books that have a healthy mix of fact with fiction; something that makes me start checking google to learn more about the true events and people. With people like Stravinsky, Toscanini and the Kennedy family all part of the story, there was plenty of reality. The story is generally about how a varied and unlikely group of people develop unlikely friendships...... nazi Thomas and Stravinsky; the same Thomas and Masha, a Jewess escaping Germany. Unlikely though they may sound , all were totally believable.I admit to liking the first part of the book, when they were al on the ship, better than the second part which waas a sort of "what happened in the following years" but it did tie up loose ends.the book is beautifully written and I would definitely recommend it. I'm now going to look into buying further boks from this author.

Fantastic story combining fact and fiction
I loved this book. Although the author states it is a work of fiction, certain famous characters and incidents are certainly real and I found myself constantly googling information to find out more about these and just how close to the story they were. So although there is a strong threat to the liner from the German sub in the book, real facts tell us the liner and it's famous occupants made it to the destination in America. The fictional characters were just as interesting as the famous ones and the book had a good mix of war time history, tension, romance, and some quite sad moments.

Historic Novel on the transatlantic ocean, A Great Read !!
Ocean Liner gripped and mesmerized me as the authors exceptional style of writing . An intriguing historical trip on a second world war transatlantic voyage, from the golden era of cruising. A collection of passengers from different backgrounds , such as renowned European composers, a faded Hollywood movie queen and two Jewish young ladies fleeing Nazi Germany. The novel blends factual characters with fictitious ones friendships and romances blossom from this some what political voyage , in a compulsive page turner from Marius Gabriel . Don't dismiss Ocean Liner as just a holiday read its an amazingly complex story !

Great read
I enjoyed all the characters in this book, cleverly written by mixing real life facts with fictional characters. I like the way it forwarded to tell what happened to them all in later life, some with happier endings than others. I never knew that Rosemary Kennedy was subjected to the horrendous operation requested by her parents so just had to look into it after finishing the book. What a waste of a life, unbelievable that someone could do that to their own daughter. This book was a great read.
